The Ravyn Part 2

Serina awoke slowly almost three days later. She felt as though she had a mouth full of cotton. She saw a pitcher full of water on a table. Her eyes were swollen, so depth perception was completely off. She knocked over the whole table, breaking the pitcher and the lamp that sat on it.

The door opened to reveal Storm, who saw her standing in broken glass, a few cuts on her legs and feet beginning to bleed profusely. "Just stand there, I'll get help," Storm told her, leaving the room.

Serina, knowing she was in for it now, walked painfully back to her bed, ignoring the shards of glass that bit into her bare feet. Storm brought back Xavier and Beast, entering to see her back on the bed. "I thought I told you to stay put," Storm complained, bringing a broom to clean up the glass.

"I got tired of standing," Serina replied hoarsely.

There were bloody footprints leading back to the bed. "Let me see," Henry requested lifting her legs onto the bed.

"How do you feel?" Xavier asked, moving to the opposite side of her bed, out of Henry's way.

"Like I've been eating cotton an' through a blender. I caenna see very well," she replied as Henry doctored her cuts.

"You are a surprising young lady. Why did you lie to me about your powers?" Xavier asked.

"Ya seem ta think that I do this fer fun. I hate this. I dinna tell you cause it had nothin' ta do wit' why I'm here. Moira said ya needed a secretary. A secretary duenna need to use stuff like this," she stated angrily.

He seemed to understand her anger. "I'm sure it feels like I'm attacking you, but I'm not. I like to know what powers my students have, and you are now one of my students."

"So now you know. I can teleport," she bit back bitterly while Henry bandaged her feet and legs. "Great! Now I look like a mummy."

"Now behave yerself, Serina, or I'll have tae tan yer hide," Sean growled, walking in with Moira.

"Been there, done that, an' yer no match fer me," she challenged.

"How you doin'?" he asked, sitting beside her.

"Hell," she stated firmly.

"Why'd ye jump?" Sean asked, taking a good look at her bruised face.

"He pissed me off," she replied.

"I need ta know somethin', sweet, do you know who this Ravyn is?" he asked.

She knew this was coming. She had come up in a combat where the X-Men had shown up in. "No," she replied, looking at him square in the face as she lied. "Should I? Is she a student here, too?"

"No. We met up with her in Scotland. She has some of your talents. Rogue said that she, too, teleported, as you did. I know of only one person who can do that, other than you. Kurt Wagner, the Nightcrawler."

"Maybe you should be a'talkin' ta him, not me," she suggested, trying to get her eyes to focus. "Kin I get a drink, please? My mouth is dry."

"I have. He has no idea," Xavier replied as Storm handed her a glass of water.

"Are ye suggesting that I am her?" she asked bluntly.

"We are suggesting that there is a possibility that you might be hiding something from us," Xavier supplied.

"Well, ye are wrong. I have witnessesses as ta where I've been the past ten years, how many o'ye kin say the same?" she said sarcastically.

"Now don' be bitter, sweet, we are concerned. Besides, they met the Ravyn at yer last school. It does cause suspicion," Sean defended.

"That doesnae mean it was mae. I'm sure that there are a lot o' mutants that none o'ye know aboot. It could have been anyone," she stated, getting offended.

"That is very true. But you fit the description, all except the eyes. Hers were like those of a cat's," Xavier replied, hoping to jog her into telling him what he wanted to hear.

"Well I duenna have cat eyes. " She widened her eyes. "See? Mine are normal." She sat back. "Now, kin we jus' drop it? I'm not her." She crossed her arms on her chest, looking away.

"Sure," Sean said, seeing that she was getting close to jumping again.

They let it alone for close to two weeks. It was after another appearance of the Ravyn. Serina had said that she was going to a movie only moments after the others had left for a mutant disturbance in Central Park. Shortly after they arrived to confront some of Magneto's old followers, she appeared.

"Excuse me," Ravyn purred to Pyro, "can you hold this for me?" She handed him a bright glowing ball of light, flying away. It exploded into a stunning blast of kinetic energy. "There, that should even it a bit," she smirked, flying off.

When they returned to the school, they reported what had happened to Xavier. His suspicions began to grow. She came in a few hours later. "Can I talk to you?" Xavier asked as he came through the door.

"Sure," she bubbled.

"It seems that the Ravyn has once again graced us with her presence. Where were you?" he asked bluntly.

"I went t'tha movies, I told ye that afore I left. Why?" She began to understand where he was leading to.

"It just seems that she shows herself when you are not around any of us," he stated, cocking an eyebrow. "Can you tell me why?"

"No. I wasn't even away o'anyone going out tonight." She reached into her pocket, fishing out a movie ticket. "Here, that'll tell ye where I was an' when. Now, if ye'll excuse me, I have some things ta do afore I retire." She got up to leave, tossing the ticket on his chair in front of him before she left.

"I can see that this is going to be very complicated," Henry replied, walking around to the door. "I'll see you in the morning."

He walked down the hall; Serina seemed to have stopped off in the kitchen for something. He continued past her, only to be stopped by Gambit. "Hey, Beast. Care to join us in a game of poker?"

"Why not," he smiled, hearing Serina come down the hall. He entered, taking a seat.

"Hey, Serina. Care to join me in a game of poker?" Gambit asked in a somewhat enticing voice.

"Oooh, but you seem so much better at playing solitaire. I wouldn't want to see you hurt yourself by play with someone else." she purred seductively, running her hand softly across his chest as she walked away.

He watched her for a long moment, trying to figure her out. "Sounds like she's got you pegged, Gumbo," Logan chuckled. "Now let's play." Gambit slowly walked back in, shaking his head. He'd have to work on that one.
