This takes place after Marrage Of LeBeau, Learning To Love & Maybe. I hope you enjoy it.

Prelude:

It has been a month after Maybe takes place. Seri has decided to take time off to "think" things through. She has planned a vacation and is leaving on a flight. As she stands outside the airport, smoking a cigarette while she waits for her flight, she is struck from behind...........................

------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Stray

Serina slowly wandered the crowded late night streets. Here homeless, drugs and hookers were common place. Here she didn't feel out of place, didn't look out of place, except the look of fear on her face.

People would try to talk to her, try and help her, but she'd shy away or duck as if they meant to harm her. She looked as though she'd been beaten, she was filthy, bruised, her clothes torn and ragged, she'd run from anyone who could help her, stealing what she needed to survive. This worked for little over a week, then, she ran into the police. To them, she hadn't done anything wrong, they just wanted to help her, but she ran, couldn't or wouldn't talk, and worst of all, she looked no older than a 16 year old runaway.

Before taking her the station, they stopped at a hospital, to tend to her wounds. When they tried to evaluate her, she freaked, pulling a scalpel on the doctors, cops and orderly, slashing a cop and orderly.

A quick decision and four tranquilizer dart, all became dark.

At the Xavier institute Of Higher Learning............................

"Owe!" A sharp pain brings Jean Grey-Summers painfully awake with pain in her legs.

Elsewhere in the mansion....................

Betsy Braddock walks from the Danger Room control room to the Danger Room itself. A quarter of the way there, she collapses into a blissful unconsciousness.

At the hospital............

Once tended and sedated, Serina was placed in a padded solitary confinement cell at the New York Institute For The Criminally Insane.

At the Mansion............

Betsy slowly pulled herself up to her knees. She had no idea of how long she'd been there or what happen. Her head swam and her thoughts were unclear.

"What ails you child?" Came a soft gruff voice. Betsy looked up to see a man leaning on a staff. "Took quite a spill. Are you alright?"

"Yeah, I guess I did." She said shakily, Taking his offered hand.

"You seem to have been drugged, My Dear." He purred roughly. "You need to be more careful." He leaned her against the wall.

"Yeah." She said, shaking her head. "I will." She looked up and he was gone. Wolverine walked towards her. "Next time."

"Next time, what, Darlin'?"

"Be more careful." She replied. "Did you pass anyone on your way here?"

"Just Gumbo coming in from a late date, Why?" He said seeing her teeter.. He caught her easily. "You need to quit the late night work outs. They're gonna kill ya." He stated, leading her towards her room.

"ARGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!" She screamed in pain, dropping to hugging her legs to her body.

"Elizabeth!!!!"

At that moment in the kitchen............

Jean was preparing breakfast when, as she turned, eggs and milk in hand, she fell unconscious on to the floor. The eggs and milk spilling on to her face and hair. "Jean!!!!" Scott screamed, seeing her lye there on the floor.

Later, in the infirmary.........................................

Jean awoke to find Hank checking and arguing with Betsy. Warren, Logan and Scott stood in the room. "I don't get it." Warren began. "Betsy having phantom pains, and Jean passing out. It doesn't make sense."

"Jean awoke last night with sharp pains." Scott explained. "Coincidence?"

"And Bets here , barely able to walk when I found her this mornin'." Logan added.

"It's just a fluke." Betsy stated. "You said it yourself, Logan. It's the late night workouts getting to me." She paused. "Maybe Jean's pregnant and in my insomniatic state I am picking it up?"

"Sounds like voodoo to me." Remy threw in, letting them know of his arrival. "Meybe one of our enemy has dolls and dabbles, Neh?"

"Something to look in to." Hank stated, checking Jean.

The two stayed under light observation for the next few weeks. Their condition and their attacks never changed, just bounced back and forth between them. Though they shared the episodes, they did not share them alone, nor did it ever cause any real harm.

Three weeks from the first attack.....................

"Has anyone heard from Seri?" Betsy asked as they lounge around the pool.

"Not since she left for her vacation in the Bahamas. " Hank answered, floating on his back in the pool like a large blue raft.

"She say she need it after what Sinister do to her de last time." Remy added, and evil grin play on his lips as he pulled Hank under water.

"She said she'd be gone for six week, Bets. It's only been little over three, you knew that." Warren stated.

"I'm sure she's living it up as only she can." Scott stated flatly, handing Jean a cold drink.

"I can't help but wonder if she is going through what Jean and I are." Betsy stated. "Something's not right." She sat down beside Jean.

"I feel the same way." Jean told her in a comforting tone. "But she requested not to be disturbed, there's nothing we can do." She Leaned back, shifting in the sun. "I'm sure she'd let us know somehow."

"'Sides, de only kind o' fun she enjoy be de dangerous..........Blurp....blub......blub..."

"Kind." Hank finished for Remy as he held him under water with a smile.

"If any of you knew her well," Bobby began, walking over to the pools edge, watching Hank and Remy's water fight. "She's probably having the time of her life. Some of us believe she is meeting an old flame there, If you know what I mean." He wiggled his eyebrows, and grinning.

"You know nothing little man." Onyxx growled, shoving him in. "She'd never do what you are implying."

"So true Chere," Remy began, pulling her into the pool over his head. "So very true." His tone was touched with a bit of anger.

The subject was dropped for near two more weeks, then...... "Jean! Jean!" Scott cried as he tried to hold his wife still. She convulsed violently for no apparent reason. "Hank!!!!!!"

At that moment, elsewhere in the mansion......

"I really don't see why................." Betsy stopped in mid sentence, staring into nowhere. She was arguing with Warren over her appointment with Hank. She felt herself drift off to a place where she had never been. It was a Shoulyn Temple. Near it was plenty of plants, beautiful aromas and a waterfall in which she now sat by. In the distance, she could see someone watch her from across the water. She was pulled from it by a bright tiny light shining in her eyes. She pushed Hank's hand away. "Do you mind?"

"Well, welcome back to the land of the consciousness." He chuckled.

"Give me a break, Hank." Betsy brushed it off. "I never lost consciousness." She stood up and stretched.

"Then finish your sentence." Warren challenged.

"What sentence?" She asked a bit miffed at his aditude.

"The one you stopped in the middle of two hours ago."

"Not hours, minutes maybe, but not hours." She chuckled, a bit agervated.

"Look at the clock, Bets." Warren suggested. "Your appointment was at 8:45, it is now 10:50. You explain it."

"I fell asleep." She bit back.

"With your eyes open?" Hank asked.

"Yeah." She snapped. "Got a problem with that?!?" She snapped, stalking to the door. "Just leave me Alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!" She slammed the door behind her.

As weeks passed by, things grew stranger and stranger. Jean and Psylocke's episodes grew more frequent, but now they added visions.

For instance, Jean felt herself bound and in a small dark room, while Betsy saw a gun raised to her through a slit in a door. She too was unable to move, then suddenly fell to the floor unconscious, where Jean felt the pain of four to five pin prick shortly before Betsy fell.

It was becoming apparent that someone was doing this, but who and why?

A few more weeks passed and Xavier received a late night call. "Hello, Xavier Institute. This is Xavier."

"Charles, I'm sorry for calling so late, but I've been thinking and I don't think I am ready to return just yet." The soft voice was unmistakable.

"Serina?"

"Yes." She spoke softly. "After what happened. After the burning, the trouble I caused before I left. Then when and where Gambit found me. I'm just not ready yet. They telepathy is growing stronger. I can hear the thoughts of hundreds of people all the time. I'm sorry. I'm not that strong." She paused. "I'll be honest. I've been thinking as of late that I should leave the X- men, get away from it all." He didn't interrupt, he knew better. Something wasn't right here. "Give you some peace from the burden I cause you." Her voice grew even softer, almost distant. "I have ta go. I'll be in touch." 'Click'.

"Serina?" He waited, getting a dial tone. "SERINA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

There was a light knock at the door. "Chuck??" It was her father, Wolverine. "Chuck, is everything alright?" He opened the door.

Charles hung up the phone. "Yes and no." He replied. "It is in that I heard from your daughter. And it isn't because of what she said." He dropped his head. "She's not sure she wants to come home, but something in her voice says she's not coming home. Her telepathy's out of control. She didn't say where she was and she seemed rather strange, almost distant."

Logan chuckled. "Sounds normal to me. All except her not coming home." He paused, seeing the distressed look on Xavier's face. "What else did she say?"

"Something to do with the burning, her leaving after and where Gambit found her. Says she's not ready to face it yet." He paused. "Gambit said he pulled her from a fight not far from Brooklyn. I guess we could start there."

"I'll wake the Cajun." Logan stated with a sigh, leaving the room.

As he walked up the stairs to Gambit's room, he was passed by Betsy, swaying as she ran. He caught her. "Don't touch me!" She screamed, pulling away, running down the stairs.

Warren fallowed. "Betsy?" He asked, breathless.

"Down the stairs, take a left, then out the window." Logan stated, watching him run. "And what ever you do, don't touch her." He yelled after him. He then continued to Remy's room, knocking loudly on the door. "Gambit! Get up. Chuck wants ya." He said loudly.

The door opened a crack. "Could you be any more sub'le, Mon Ami?" Remy asked through the door as he leaned on it tiredly. "Give me five." He sighed, seeing the look on Logan's face. It was serious.

"I'll wait." Logan replied as Gambit closed the door.

Later...........

"Wha' so important~ Dat you wake ol' Remy up at dis hour?" He asked as they walked to Xavier's office.

"Serina."

"Serina?!" He repeated retoricly, putting his hands in his pockets. "What about her?"

"She called. Said she might not come home. Ever."

"An' what's dat got t' do wit' moi?" He asked.

"She said it had t' do with where you found her. I was one o' three reasons she gave. She said it was the burn, her leavin' and you findin' her." Logan explained, opening Xavier's door.

"Do come in and have a seat." Charles requested, but he knew it was an order.

"Gave him a briefing on the way." Logan stated as Remy sat down. "So let's get started."

"What do you need?" Remy asked.

At that exact moment........................

"Betsy please come down." Warren pleaded, watching as Psylocke climbed higher into the tree. "No one is going to hurt you. You're safe here, at home with friends and family. They would never hurt you."

Her head snapped his direction as he flew to the height she was at in the tree. "You already have!" She screamed. "All of you have!!!" She was in a panicked rage.

"Who did, Elizabeth?" Hank asked as he cautiously climbed up beneath her. "Who hurt you?" He stopped a few branches below her.

"Them!" She screamed. "Men, white! Needles, sharp needles!, Couldn't move! Pain! Gun!" She looked around as if looking for some one then stopped suddenly. "NO!!!!!!!!!!" She screamed, as if seeing her attackers and jumped from a branch some thirty feet from the ground.

"Got ya." Warren stated, catching her. He held her close as he lowered them to the ground as she sobbed. Scott, Storm and Bobby waited on the ground with a sedation, injecting her while she was subdued.

Once she had calmed, they asked her again. "Men in white. Can't move. Sharp needles. Pain. Always touching me. Stop touching me!!" She screamed in a teary rage.

Xavier's office..............

"Tell me again." Xavier requested. "How, where and what happened when you found her?"

Remy sighed. "She had run away from Sinister, ran into a street gang and got in t' a fight." He had said this over and over, hopping to believe it himself one day. "They were fighting, an' I got her out. We talk for a few hours, den I bring her home. Dat's it." He hated having to lie, but he had to admit he was getting good with this one.

"What did you talk about?" Xavier was relentless.

"How she would be treated here, what t' expect when we got here." He replied as well as he had rehearsed it. "Dat everyt'ing'd be ok and we'd be here for her ." He thought.

"Did she not want to come home?"

"Sort of." He stated. "Said she was afraid t'. Dat she offended so many people here, an' she didn' want t' do dat anymore, but wasn't sure she could stop her self again."

"What do you mean by 'again'?"

"Dat de last time, at de last moment, she pulled herself t' get her long enough not t' kill us all." Gambit stated, shaking his head. "I don' t'ink Sinister was dat lucky." He paused. "She wouldn't say what happen, jus' cried an' looked away."

"She claimed that one of the reasons delt with that. Where and when you found her. It felt like it had a strong bearing on her decision. We have to know why." Xavier rambled.

"Xavier." Remy started. "May I speak wit' you priva'ly?"

"Logan?"

"I have a right t' know, Chuck." Logan growled.

"I know dat, Mon Ami, but I promised her. She make me swear an' I not break her trust, my promise t' her."

"If I feel it is important, Logan, I'll tell you, but not if it is just to help her." Xavier stated.

"I'll hold y' t' it., Chuck." Logan grumbled leaving the room.

"Ok Remy, What is it?" Charles asked. "What doesn't she want Logan to know?"

"Dat's she's married, and been raped all at de hands of Sinister." Remy said softly.

"I can understand the rape part, but the marriage? Why would she hide something like that?"

"Because." Remy began, moving to look out the window. "She's married to me."

"What???"

Remy sighed. "Didn' find her near de bridge." "Ran int' Sinister an' de only way he let her go is if we wed. We fought it, but had no choice." He explained, reliving it in his mind. "Den we consummate de marriage, den she get raped. She don' wan' Logan t' know, don' wan' t' disappoint him by being married t' me." He lowered his head, speaking softer.

Xavier sighed. He could easily read what had happened and why Remy lied for her. It hurt him as much as it hurt her. "We'll say it has to do with the rape. The rest she'll tell him when she's ready." Xavier stated, but still felt Remy's pain. "What are you two going to do about it?"

"Don' know. She say she want it dissolved."

"Work it out when she gets back, then let me know your decision." Xavier stated, watching him leave.

Moments later.....

"Ok Chuck. Spill it." Logan demanded, crossing his arms.

"She was raped, and feared your disapproval and rage." Xavier sighed, not wanting to tell him.

"Xavier." Came over the intercom. "Psylocke is under confinement and in strict observation room 5. She lost it and took a thirty foot jump after a vivid dream." Hanks voice disturbed him, he seemed in a state of panic. Crying could be heard in the back ground.

"Bring Jean into observation as well. If the episodes are as they have been, she is next." Xavier advised.

"Right away." Hank replied.

"So now what, Chuck?" Logan began. "We can't keep 'em locked up forever. Burryin' this thing won't make it stop."

"We need to find out if it is effecting any other telepath or is it just women."

"I'll get a group on it." Hank said over the com.

There was a knock at the door, and then it opened, revealing Gambit. "'Fessor?" Gambit asked. "You t'ink Sinister have somet'ing t' do wit' dis?"

"Good suggestion." Xavier stated. " We'll check on it. " He turned to Logan. "Logan?"

Logan shook his head. "Come on Son." He said, putting his arm around Gambit's shoulders, leaving the room.

Days passed and the episodes grew worse. The girls complained of sharp pains and black outs. What became the most frequent were the convulsions. Late one evening, the lab received an unexpected guest. Ever so shortly after both women had an episode of strong convulsions, this time both women convulsed (one right after the other. "Hank, could I bother you for a pain killer?" Cable the leader of X-Force, Scott's son asked. "I have one hell of a headache." He looked tired and worn.

"Had them often?" Hank asked, having him sit on an exam table.

"Only as of late." Cable explained. "Everyone's been so concerned with the girls, that I figured it was better to hold off while I could." As he explained, McCoy looked him over.

"Here." Hank said, handing him two pain relievers. "And take these." He said, handing him a journal and a bottle of pain killers. "Keep a diary of when and how strong the headaches are and how long they last. If you can, fill in on when they began. If they grow worse, come see me."

Nine weeks had passed since the first attack and still no clues as to who or why. The list of victims now read: Elizabeth Braddock, Jean Grey-Summers, and Nathan Dayspring Summers.

A 3am call shattered the quiet at Xavier's. "Hello, Xavier's Institute, Drake speaking, can I help you?"

"Yez, Robert~. I need to speak with Missure Xavier~." The velvet voice sent chills of mystery down his spine.

"May I tell him who is calling?"

"Yez. Tell 'im 'is wayward child is on sey phone." She purred.

"Hold please." He requested, then buzzed Xavier's room. "Wayward child, line 3." He stated. Then shadowed the line to find out just who this 'wayward child' was.

"Hello?"

"Xavier~?"

"Yes, who is this?"

"I want to come home." (French accent)

"Excuse me?"

"Get Missure Bobby off de line, I can feel him on sey line. This was t' bae a private call." The feminine voice held a soft velvety tone, but demanded none the less, still holding a french accent.

"Robert Please!"

"Ok..ok, I was just curious." He said, hanging up the phone.

"You seem to know an awful lot, Miss.....?" Xavier continued.

"LeBeau, but you know that, don't you." Her voice held a perfect clearness, and no accent, save maybe a touch of Scottish.

"Serina?!?!?!?" Xavier exclaimed. "Why, How?"

"I told you, I hear voices. Hundreds of them all the time. I heard yours and Remy's at the same time I heard hundreds of others. I recognized yours." She paused a moment. "Look, Time's short. They're on to me. I want to come home. Can I? Is it safe for me there?"

"Always has been, Serina." He began. "Who'll know?" He switched on the tracking device specially made for this case.

"Caennae talk now, Charles. Will send signal some how." Her voice seem to fade as if she were being pulled away from the phone. "They're coming..."

"Who is. Serina for God's sake who is after you?!"

"Sorry, Charles. They're here." 'Click'

"Serina?...... SERINA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Again he got a dial tone, but this one he got a trace on. "Damn!" The device short circuited. He buzzed Gambit's room. "Remy, my personal chambers. Immediately. It has to do with the current Mrs. LeBeau."

"On my way, 'Fessor." He was dressed by the time he replied. He rushed to Xavier's room, knocking lightly.

"Come in, Gambit." Xavier said sadly. "Close the door. We have a lot of work to do.

He did as Xavier said, no question's save one. "What's wrong with Serina?"

"I'm not exactly sure." Xavier explained. "First she calls sounding as if she were programed. Then she calls asking is it was 'safe' for her here. To top it all off, she knew you told me of your marriage."

"My What?!?!?! How???" Gambit asked, shocked.

"Her telepathy, I'm sure, but she kept referring to they. 'Have to go, they're coming'." He quoted her. "And, 'they'll know if I waste more time.' Then the abrupt hang up. She sounded scared and I feel deep down that who ever has her thought she spoke or hear her speak in French. She was blunt about one thing." He paused, seeing the concerned look on Remy's face. "She want's to come home."

"Know where she is?" Remy asked with a hint of anger.

"No. Do you?" Xavier asked curiously.

"No." Remy answered flatly. "Already tried all de places I knew after de first call." Remy stated matter of factly. "Even tried places she say she never go again jus' t' be safe." He paused taking the now offered drink from Xavier. "T'anks. Any how. She never make it t' de flight nor t' de hotel. She jus' not dere." He paused taking a drink. "What did de tracer say?"

"It was smoldering a moment ago." Xavier stated, handing it to him.

Gambit took a quick look at it and it seemed in perfect working order, but registered nothing. He threw a few switches, shook his head, his eyes twinkling. "Mind if I barrow dis? I may be able t' get somet'ing out o' it. Wit' a little help."

Give Forge my regards." Xavier smiled. "I will." He replied, leaving immediately for Forges place.

Now 11 weeks after the first attack. Forge and Gambit worked hard for two weeks on the tracer, and now Gambit returned to report what they had found. "De call was from no phone, but manipula'ed from de wires." He paused to give a sigh. "Findin' her gonna be harder dan ever now."

Xavier could see that the boy was exhausted and ready to give up all hope. He gave Gambit a reassuring pat on the shoulder. "We'll find her. I promise."

One week later........................

"Jean!........Jean!!!!!!................" Hank yelled in a panic state, trying to shaker from her trance like state.

"Beast, come quickly, we can't restrain her!" Bobby announced in a state of shocked concern. "Reyes has done all she can, but Bets' too strong for her!"

Beast looked to Scott. "Bring Jean to Betsy's room. There may be a connection." Hank said as he followed Bobby out and to Psylocke's room.

Upon entering they saw what looked to be a feeble attempt at holding the convulsing Elizabeth down. She convulsed so extreemely that her mouth now bled. Hank quickly moved to her side, placing a bite guard in her mouth, being bit in the prosses. "Ow! Damn!" He exclaimed, pulling his hand away quickly. "Bring Jean closer, I want to try something." He stated, taking Jean's limp hand and laying it on Betsy's restrained one.

Betsy grabbed it in a convusling fit. "Aarrrggghhhh!!!" Jean screamed, Pulling away and out of her trance. "They're shocking her!" She exclaimed, grabbing Betsy and entering her mind.

An hour later.....

Once the room calmed, (And believe me it took awhile) The interigation began. "What do you mean 'they're shocking her' Jean?" Hank inquired.

Jean sat stroking Betsy's sweat drenched hair. "I mean, who ever it is, I really couldn't see, they're doing some sort of shock treatment on." She explained rather shakily.

"Electroshock Tharapy." Hank repeated in technical terms.

"You mean all of this is from a mental paitent!?!?!??" Scott asked rather bitterly.

Gambit and Xavier entered on his comment. "Male or female?" Xavier inquired.

"Female." Jean replied looking down at Psylocke's sleep tormented face.

"Try and locate Serina." Xavier requesting in a demanding tone. "Enter her mind if you can."

"Are you insaine!?!?!?!?" Hank inquired in a shocked voice." She can't do that fully rested, much less in her present state of exhaustion!"

"We have a hunch as to who is doing this to the girls.." Xavier explained. "It was brought to my attiention, shortly before coming here, that Serina is unreachable by phone, that she has sent messages through the phone but is unable to be traced. We believe she is trying to reach us the only way she can. Through you."

"If our hunch be right, Chere. You may not only reach her, but find her as well." Gambit added.

"Maybe later, after she is rested." Hank almost demanded.

"Dere be no time!" Gambit insisted, showing his tiredness and deep concern.

"He's right." Xavier added. "If they are giving her shock tharapy she is subdued right now. If you are repelled, we will know it is not her."

Jean looked at them in silence. "I'll try." Speaking for the first time since they entered the room.

She recieved several dark images, then was able to see through her eyes. What she saw were bright lights and lots of shadows moving around her., She felt the pain and numbness that Serina felt. "Ok," She heard them say. "After her surgery tomarrow, she won't be any trouble to anyone." The male voice snickered. "Ain't that right, Honey?" She could see the hand move close to her face, Serina stared numbly while the man caressed her face roughly. "Then you be treating us real nice like, like the other bitches here. You'll do as you're told." He laughed evily, Kissing her roughly. Serina had no responce to his touch.

<"A name, I need a name, Serina. Tell me. Where are you?'>

<'Huh??'> Serina's mind began to register an intruder. <'Jean? Jean! You found me?!'> She exclaimed. <'Where are you?'>

<'Physically I am at the mansion. Serina, I entered your mind too easily, Why?'>

<'No more mutant powers, Jean. They took them away when they found out I called there. When I called Xavier.'> She answered.

<'How did you call?'> Jean asked.

<'Couldn't reach him telepathicly except in extreme pain. Used a pay phone near by. 455-3139, telepathicly dialed from the machine, by passing the pay part. But they found out. Punish me bad for it.'>

<'Where are you?'>

<'What time is your surgery tomarrow?'>

<'10am.'>

<'What is it that they are doing?'>

<'Take the anger away.'>

<'I'll be back, I promise'> Jean replied.

<'I'm not goin' anywhere'>

Back in her own body.......

"She is in a place....." Jean began.

"You mean you got in??" Hank exclaimed in compleat shock.

"Yes and she is schedualed for a surgery tomarrow at 10am. Something she said would take the anger away. All I can think of is a frontal labatomy. They are doing shock tharapy, taking away her abilities and she called by manipulating a pay phone on the corner. The number is 455-3139 and she could only give me the letters of where she is at. 1 N, 2 I's, 2 P's, no wait. It's 1 P, 2 C's, 1 F and a Y. We have got to help her." Jean stressed, leaving out the fact that she was sure they had assalted her.

"Ok, Check on the pay phone. It's now 11am, we have less than 24 hours to find her and bring her home." Xavier stated. "Let's get to work."

They worked for hours before getting a lead. "Got It!!!" Bobby shoued, bursting through the doors. "It's a pay phone on the third floor, cell block G, solitary confinement of the New York Institute of Psychiatry, Correctional Facility for the Criminally Insane."

"Two C's, two I's, one N, one Y one F and one P." Jean gasped.

"How far is dis place?" Gambit inquired.

"Hundred miles north of town." Hank answered.

"Den what are we waiting for?" Remy asked impaitently.

"Me." Wolverine answered. "Hank, you, me, Storm and the gumbo here are picked for the jail break, pronto."

"Why not try and have her released first?" Hank asked.

"Because, For some damn reason, Serina MacPhearson doesn't exsist." Wolvering growled.

Jean soothed, her heart aching.

He answered, following her out of the room.

They entered another room, where she locked the door behind him. He raised an eyebrow as she picked up the phone and dialed a number. "Yes, I am interested in a paitent there by the name of LeBeau., Serina LeBeau?" She waited. "Yes I'll hold." She gave him a look of death. "You could have at least told a few of us, you know. But oh no, you had to keep it a secret. Sneaking in and out of her bedroom. Now I know why." She whispered.

"Jean, Please. I don' wan' t' go in t' it now." He said softly, looking away.

"Well Damn it Remy, when are you going to trust some of us?"

"Oh yeah, trust is real good Chere, who do you trust with the information that you are married to a daughter of Wolverine?"

"Good point." She turned her atiention to the phone. "Yes. I have her husband right here." She handed him the phone. "You're the only one who can help her now."

" 'Ello, this is Mr. LeBeau. My wife was reported missing several weeks ago. I was given de number by an officer from de 23rd precenct. Is my wife dere?" He paused for a moment. "Yes, I'll hold." He turned to Jean, "Can you call Charolette and let 'er know what I did?" He turnd back to the conversation. "Yes, I am here, Yes, Officer Jones, Yes, I'll hold."

"Yeah, Charollette, this is Jean, Hi, Yeah, You're gonna get a call from someone asking if you gave them this number...." Jean explained .

"Yes," Remy smiled for the first time in weeks. "Yes, yes, T'ank you very much. " He said hanging up the phone. 'Dat was de director. He said if I can show proof dat we was married before dey take her, den dey will release her t' me.

He looked at her seriously. "Keep Logan 'ere." He requested, walking away.

"Are you two married?"

"Shhhh Chere. I don' wan' t' be dead 'fore we get 'er back, Non?" He leaned closer to her, so only she could here. "Draw your own conclusions." The smiled and went to collect the papers, then to Xavier's office.

4:33pm.

"'Fessor?" Gambit asked through the door.

"Yes, Gambit." Xavier answered.

Gambit opened the door and entered quietly, closing the door behind him. "Keep Logan here." He requested. "Dey have her under LeBeau. All I need to do is walk in with proof an walk out wit' 'er." He smiled slightly. "It all set up." He sat down. "Dey say her crime be nothing but she attacked a few officers an' orderlies in de triage~ room an dat is why she is dere." He paused for a moment to let it all sink in. "I need t' take Hank an Stormy so's dey release her t' us and Hank bein' her doc'or an' all."

Xavier thought on it for a moment. "Go then. I will detain him." Xavier stated, watching him leave. "Logan, I need to speak with you in my office." He said over the intercom.

Moments later.......

The plane was loaded and lifting off. Gambit, Beast and Storm left quietly as Xavier detained, Wolverine in his office with Jean.

"What do you mean, 'they can do it faster with out me'?!?!?!" Wolverine growled. "Be straight with me Chuck."

"Logan, please." Jean began in a soothing purr. "We had no choice. Remy and I found a way to get her out without violence or confusion."

"Really? How?" He asked "What can that Cajun do for her that her father can't?" He growled.

"He has already obtained the information they needed on her to gain her release. She will be released in to their custody due to the proof of who she really is." Xavier pussy footed around the facts.

"How could he 'obtain' information on her that her own father didn' already have?!?!? There is no MacPhearson!"

"You are right, Logan." Jean spoke softly, resting a gentile hand on his shoulder. "There is no longer a Serinity MacPhearson." She turned him to face her. "Only Serina LeBeau."

He shook his fists in rage. "REMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" He howled.

Else Where...................

"LeBeau." Gambit finished saying his name.

The guard turned to Beast and Storm. "And you are?"

"Dr. Henry McCoy and RN Ororo Munro." Hank explained. "Mrs. LeBeau is a patient of mine."

"He made a call then turned to them and another guard. "Take the Doctor and his nurse to LeBeau's room." The turned to Remy. "If you will fallow me, The director will see you now." The three parted ways there to take care of business.

6:49pm......

"What d' you mean I can't take 'er home wit' me?!?" Gambit exclaimed. All of his patients had run out an hour ago with this man. "I brought what you requested."

"I am sorry, but her reaction to Dr. McCoy show that it is not safe for her to be released. She is a danger to everyone around her as well as to herself." The Director repeated as Storm bandaged Hank's hand.

Remy looked back to see Hank began to bandage Storm's face and arm. "May I have a moment wit' 'er doctor."

"Sure." The Director stated, leaving the room.

"Ok, Now what do we do?" Gambit asked softly.

"Look up Matt Murdock." Beast stated. "He's an attorney."

"Ok." Gambit replied, opening the phone book. "'Ere it is." He said reading off the number as Hank dialed the phone.

10:02pm...................

"Dr McCoy." Matt purred, extending his hand. "I got here as soon as I could."

"Thanks, Matt." Hank shook his hand. "This is Mr. LeBeau. It is his wife they are holding."

"Tell me Mr. LeBeau," Matt began, shaking his hand and sitting down. "Did you sign anything?"

"No." Remy replied.

"Did her family."

"No."

"Ok, Let's go see the director." Matt stated, standing and heading for the office.

12:45am..............

"Ok look." Matt began. "The bottom line is that neither, Mr. LeBeau, Mrs LeBeau, nor any of her family or her doctor signed anything granting you custody of Mrs. LeBeau." He pulled a paper from his briefcase. "I have here a court order for the release of the mutant known as Mrs. LeBeau into the custody of Dr. McCoy and her husband, Remy LeBeau at the Xavier Institute. Now are you going to relinquish your hold on Mrs. LeBeau or do I bring a full federal investigation on this facility for cruel and inhumane treatment of patients?" He raised a brow.

The director paused for a moment, then pressed a buzzer. They all held their breath."Have Mrs. LeBeau sedated and readied for transport. She is being discharged." All breathed a sigh of relief.

"I would like t' see her." Gambit requested.

"No." The director stated flatly.

"Ahummmm." Matt cleared his throat, toying with the court order.

The director muttered some obscenity then motioned to Gambit. "Fallow me."

As the door opened to her room they saw that she was bound to the bed. Not only with restraints to the bed but a straight jacket, Belts and sheet. Her legs were shackled and her hands cuffed inside the jacket. She was completely immobile. A tear slid down Remy's cheek as he approached her."Hey, Petite~" He whispered, touching her cheek. She jerked her head away. "No, Petite~. I'm 'ere t' take you home." He touched her cheek again. She turned her head, sinking her teeth into his hand. "OWE!!!" He shrieked. "No, Renia!" He scolded, catching her face in his hands, kissing her forehead. She calmed. "Ok, Release her."

"Are you crazy?!?!?!?" The Director exclaimed.

"Umhummm." Matt cleared his throat again.

"Only under security and with dart guns." The Director agreed.

"Ok." Remy said softly, backing away so they could release her. After her release, she sat there, wild eye, looking with unseen eyes. Then she leaped at the nearest person, Gambit. The sounds of guns firing then the sight of her dropping to the ground in front of him with a cry of pain and lightly sobbing, not quite unconscious. One of the guards moved placing a gun to her neck, preparing to fire at close range. "NO!!!!!" Remy screamed, pushing him away, gathering her in his arms, rocking her back and forth.

"Take that thing and get out of my facility." The Director snapped in disgust.

"With pleasure." Beast replied as Storm aided Remy with Serina. "I wouldn't put Creed in a place like this. It is inhumane." He stated taking the release forms from the doctor, handing them to Matt. Getting Serina's things and following Remy.

"I will be in touch." Matt stated, grabbing a video tape from the security desk.

"HEY!!!"

"Like I said. I will be in touch." Matt repeated, heading out the door with a smile.

On the Black Bird...........

"T'anks again, Mr. Murdock." Gambit said gratefully, holding Serina closely in his arms.

"Call me Matt. And it was no trouble at all." Matt assured. "I'd love nothing more than to take down every rat hole like that there is. They abuse their authority as well as the clients that they are paid to take care of. No one is worthy of that kind of punishment no matter what the crime."

"Did you get enough evidence?" Hank asked.

"You bet I did. I got the whole thing on tape." He smiled.

"Tell me Matt, how you get de court order so fast?"

"I didn't." Matt replied with a smile. "This is," He pulled the paper out. "The last will and testament of Anthony Stark."

"You bluffed it?" Gambit said with shock.

"You bet I did." He smiled as they all laughed about it.

As they landed.......

Serina began to stir as they neared the cell that was to be her room. Jean and the others had moved her things into it to give it more of her more of a comfortable stay. From her teddy bear collection to her bed. Remy laid her gently on the bed, covering her up with the comforter he had bought her for Christmas last year. Her eyes flew open in alarm and he nearly ran from the room, not knowing what to expect.

As the door slammed shut, Remy had no time to react as Wolverine slammed his fist into Remy's face. "That's for marring MY DAUGHTER!!!!" He growled as everyone tried to pull him off Gambit.

Wicked laughter filtered through the door as Remy slowly slid down the wall, staring at the face of his wife as she stare sightlessly out the door window. Rogue ran in tears of sorrow and pain, with Joseph in tow.
