Misty's Song

by Kate Fitzgerald

Rating: G - A teensy bit of kissing and stuff. Mild.

Disclaimer: Nope, unfortunately, I don't own Misty, Ash, Brock or any of the characters in this. If I

did, I would have to be rich and that is sooo far from the truth! And none of this ever happened

(duh!) and I'm not making any money off of this. So please don't sue me. Or shoot me. Or

thunder-shock me.

Type: Very romantic. If you can't stomach mushy stuff, then tough tuna!

What's going on? Ash has a problem and Misty has been song-writing.

"Hey, Misty, wake up!" shouted Brock shaking her.

"Oh go away!" she groaned turning over and covering her head with a pillow. She was just having a

lovely dream about water Pokemon. The night before she had been writing a song and trying to put it

to music. She hoped the others hadn't heard.

"Misty, you can't just lie there all day!" laughed Brock.

"And why not?" she said in a muffled voice from under her pillow. Finally she decided that it wasn't

worth arguing with Brock, no matter how chipper a mood he was in. She got up and dressed. When

she went out to eat her breakfast, she saw that Brock was desperately trying to cheer up Ash who

had his head on the table.

"Well, good morning to you too." She said sarcastically as she poured her cereal. When she sat

down, she noticed that Ash wasn't in the mood for sarcastic come-backs, so she said, "What's the

matter, Ash. You look miserable."

"Yeah." He mumbled.

"Do you want something to eat?" offered Brock.

"Pika?" said Pikachu.

"No thanks. I'm not really hungry." He said.

"Yeah, well you should probably eat something anyway. We still have a long day ahead." Said

Misty.

"Look, guys, I need to get some fresh air. I'm going for a walk. C'mon Pikachu." And with that he left

the Pokemon centre.

"Wonder what's up with him." Said Brock through a mouthful of food.

"Hmmm." She said thoughtfully. "Has he been like this all morning or did something happen?"

"Nope, he's been like this all morning. I woke up to find him sitting at the table like he was a while

ago."

"Do you think I should talk to him?" asked Misty.

"I guess you can try. I gave up a while ago." Said Brock, shrugging and shaking his head as he went

to wash their dishes.

Misty went out into the woods. She figured that he would be there because it was secluded.

Suddenly she heard his voice.

"I don't know what to say, Pikachu. It just keeps gnawing away at me."

"Piiikaaa." Said Pikachu sympathetically.

"Ash?" said Misty coming out from behind a tree. He jumped up and fell over.

"Uhhh-hi Misty!" he said.

"Ash, what's the matter. Do you want to talk about it?"

"Nah, you wouldn't understand."

"I don't see why not!" she said a little annoyed by this.

"You just wouldn't." he said simply. They sat in silence for a while, and then Ash broke it.

"What was that song you were singing last night?" he asked quietly. She turned very red.

"Uh, just a song that I was writing. I didn't know you heard it."

"It was, um, nice." He said awkwardly.

"Thank you." She replied.

"What did you mean by it though?" This made her cringe even more. She didn’t want to tell him what

she meant by it. In fact, that's what the song meant.

"Well, uh, nothing really. It's just a song."

"Mmmhmmm." He said in disbelief.

"No really. It doesn't have to mean anything, does it?"

"Misty, what do you think of me. I mean, am I too nasty to you?"

"What?" she cried. "Uh, no not at all. All boys your age are like that. I'm used to it by now."

"Yeah, but most guys would have given you the money for your bike a long time ago."

"You know what? I'm glad you haven't given it to me. I've had a lot of fun with you and Brock and

Pikachu. If you had paid me earlier, I would have had to leave you."

"But aren't you sick of me yet?" he asked turning to face her.

"Not yet!" she smiled. "Ash, I really think you're a nice guy. And you're really ambitious, and I

admire that. I really don't have an ambition at the moment."

"So, do you think you would, you know, like, like me?" he was cringing now and looking at his feet.

"I was wondering if you felt that way about me." She said softly.

"Really?" he said lifting his eyes to meet hers.

"Yeah, really." She said. They looked into each other's eyes for a moment. Ash leaned towards her

and kissed her lightly on the lips. She kissed him back. When he pulled away she said:

"What was that problem of yours?"

"I don't have one anymore." He replied smiling. She smiled back. Suddenly, the moment was broken

by a crash nearby in the bushes. "Come on, Ash. It might be an injured Pokemon or something."

They ran over to see what it was. When they parted the bushes they were surprised to see a

red-haired young woman, a purple-haired young man, a cat and a boy with short brown hair, all

looking very crumpled and mischievous.

"Team Rocket!" Misty and Ash groaned together. "And Brock!" cried Misty.

"We just had to see what was going on!" said Brock.

"So we watched yas from that tree over dere." Said Meowth.

"Yes, the whole thing was very entertaining." Said Jesse.

"While it lasted." Grinned James.

Ash and Misty looked at each-other and then back at the heap on the ground.

"I always knew you would get together sometime." Said Brock. The two turned very red.

"Well, I don't think our motto would have much of an effect at this point." Said Jesse. "Anyway, I

think we've all had quite enough entertainment for one day."

"Yeah, well we would have gotten more entertainment if yous hadn't been so heavy." Complained

Meowth. Jesse smacked him on the head with her fan.

"Team Rocket, why don't you go away for a while. We need to talk." Said Brock.

"Fine!" said James.

"We know when we aren’t wanted." Pouted Jesse.

"Yeah right." Mumbled Misty.

"Looks like Team Rocket's being dismissed again!" they all said sadly.

Once they had gone away, Misty, Brock and Ash walked back to the Pokemon Centre in silence.

When they reached it, Brock sat them both down for a talk.

"So, Ash I guess you sorted out your problem, huh?" said Brock.

"Uh-huh." He nodded glaring at Brock.

"What?" said Brock defensively. "I didn't do anything!"

"You were spying on us." Said Misty.

"Well, you see, Team Rocket came over and did their little motto thingy and I told them that you and

Pikachu and Misty had gone for a walk, so they suggested that we go find you and I followed ('cause

I was a little interested) and then we saw you guys talking and we climbed a tree because we didn't

want to frighten you and then the branch broke and then-"

"Alright Brock. That's fine." Said Ash who was sick of the rambling.

"Really!?" asked Brock in surprise.

"Yeah." Replied Misty. "It saved us explaining the whole situation to you."

"Oh yeah!" said Brock. "Ok. Well, I'll see you guys later. I'm going out to lunch with Nurse Joy!"

"Oh, wow! It finally worked!" laughed Ash.

"What worked?" asked Brock.

"You and Nurse Joy!" giggled Misty. Brock turned red and left the room to find Nurse Joy.

"Well, do you want to go grab a pizza?" Misty asked Ash.

"Yeah, sure! C'mon Pikachu!" and they linked arms and left the centre chatting like the good friends

that they were, and always will be.
