Montgomery's great-granddaughter to appear in show
CHARLOTTETOWN (CP) - The TV show Emily of New Moon will have a slightly more authentic feel this season. An episode of the show, shot on Prince Edward Island and based on a novel by Lucy Maud Montgomery, will feature one of the author’s great-granddaughters. Eliza Butler, nine, will play a guest role in the episode, Bridges of Dreams, being shot this week.
Kate Butler, Eliza’s mother and Montgomery’s granddaughter, said the show will give Eliza a chance to learn more about her relative, known throughout the world for her books on Anne of Green Gables.
"When my family planned our summer vacation, I called (the executive producer) hoping that my daughter could have the opportunity to make this connection with her history," said Butler.
Emily of New Moon, nominated for 10 Gemini awards in its second season, tells the story of a young orphan growing up on the Island.
The episode will also feature Michael Enright, host of CBC Radio’s This Morning. He will play the Island’s lieutenant-governor.
