I Remember

I remember, Endless dirt whipping beneath my tires
Sharp wind fruitlessly tearing at my cheeks
Heart leaping when trees are near misses
Momentum mounting at points just past peaks

I remember, Curling up like a kitten, a book in my paws
Heat enclosed in my doll house sized space
Surrounded by clouds of comfort
My cupboard under the stairs

I remember, Joy in handling the reins, galloping
Instant response to an invisible whistle
Housing my beauties in individual stalls
Imagination runs free

I remember, Salty water staining my skin
The regret in my veins turning to fear
Focus revolving around escaping the displeasure
Release found in the familiarity of my room
