I groaned and flopped over to my stomach. I snuggled deeper into my fluffy covers.
"Wake up!" I sighed as my mother stomped up the stairs. "I said get up Hannah!"
My eye opened as a little strand of light entered my room, "Its already six o'clock!"
It took my mind approximately 6.3 seconds to register what she had just said. "Six!? Why didn't you wake me!?" I jumped out of bed and dashed to my dresser, all the while screaming at my mom. "Why didn't you wake me earlier!? Now I can't take a shower and tonight is the homecoming game and dance!"
I sighed as I pulled my pink capris on. And I couldn't find a good top. So I looked in the next drawer and found a cute light purple halter. Perfect! I realized how late it was as I was brushing my hair, I had to eat and do my make-up still! And it was already 6:30! The bus comes at 7!
With the brush still in my hand, I ran down the stairs and sat down at the table where my mom had already put my breakfast. A poptart. How original! I quickly scarfed down my food and ran upstairs to brush my teeth. A few minutes later I rushed out, fully supplied with make-up and relaxed. When I looked in the mirror, I saw a freshman, captain of the cheerleading team, full head of silky brown hair, staring back at me. I smirked as I remembered my mom screaming at me for getting highlights. Blonde to be exact. But eventually she realized that they looked cute on me and gave in.
I slipped on my wicker sandals, gave my mom a peck on the cheek, and walked casually to my bus stop. My best friend, Jessica, rode my bus also. So did my boyfriend, Cody. The three of us live close together, so we were always hanging out. It was a year ago when Cody and I started dating. I love Cody with all of my heart. That's why I asked him to try out for homecoming king.
I made it, but Cody did not.
Popular Brad did, captain of the football team, and the basketball team. He's a junior and every girl in this school has to have a crush on him. But he is going out with the captain of the varsity cheerleading squad. She's a snob, everyone that I know thinks so. Well, everyone that's not in her little clique.
When I arrived at our bus stop. I noticed that Jessica and Cody were already there. I noticed Jessica's outfit. It was the one that we recently bought at Ačropostale. And her hair was up, as usual, but this time, in a different style. Jessica was one who liked to make up her own hairstyles. And they usually were awesome. This time, her midnight black hair was pulled back and twisted into a bun, and her bangs, curled by her curling iron, framed her face.
Cody, like always, was as cute as ever. He was wearing his emerald, American Eagle sweatshirt that I got him for his birthday. And he was also wearing baggy khaki pants. I ran over and gave him a big hug. But it was different. He seemed more stiff than he ever had.
I looked deep into his eyes and understood, he didn't want me going around with other guys, especially to a dance.
Jessica just rolled her eyes, "The bus is here you two."
Cody and I looked over at her and smiled. When we boarded the bus, Bart, our bus driver waved friendly at us, then told us to take a seat. We walked down the isle and then I saw Brad. He winked at me and gave me his dazzling smile.
Cody narrowed his eyes and pushed me on to the back of the bus, where all our friends sat. Of course, Cody and I sat next to each other. Five minutes into the bus ride, Cody had already done his yawn-stretch, when he yawns, and stretches his arm around my shoulders. I immediately obeyed and snuggled into his chest while we waited.
I hadn't noticed that I had fallen asleep. All I remember was Cody shaking me gently and telling me we were at school.
My eyes fluttered open and they stared into Cody's grey, loving ones.
He grinned, "Wake up, school starts in ten minutes. And the bus is about to leave."
Gasping, I looked over to Bart, and he chuckled and shook his head.
I walked off the bus and strolled over to my locker, number 836. And I grabbed my Spanish to English dictionary.
When I entered the classroom, I saw Jessica, walked over to her and sat down. We chatted about everything, what we were going to wear to the dance tonight, who might dance with them, and everything that goes around it.
A few minutes later the teacher walked in an smiled, "buena maņana, clase"
Everyone looked at the teacher, she was always like this, making them figure out sentences that she said.
The teacher's smile grew wider, "Figure it out word by word."
There was a mad dash as mostly everyone got out their dictionaries.
"What does buena mean?" she asked the class.
Pages flipped and pages turned, finally one boy raised his hand. The teacher called on him.
"Buena means good, Miss Martin."
"Very good, Chris, very good," she looked at the rest of the class, "What does maņana mean?"
"Morning?" one girl asked.
"Yes, and no," she paused, "Maņana means ma ana, which basically means morning, good job."
I smiled as I rose my hand, "Miss Martin, clase means class. So the sentence you said would have been 'Good morning, class.'"
"Ah! Very good, Hannah! Now, everyone else, try mi nombre es."
Almost everyone rose their hand, Miss Martin picked Jessica, "My name is."
"Muy bueno, Jessica."
I smiled as Miss Martin went on the rest of the period getting the rest of the kids to figure out meanings. I knew like half of the answers, but I had already gone.

"What would the point in taking Spanish be, Hannah? I already know some," Cody bit down on his sandwich.
"Really? Like what?" Jessica asked as her eyes strayed to some of the guys who were playing football.
"Like omellette de fromage. It means cheese omellette."
"In French!"
"No, it's Spanish, my dad told me, wait or was it omellette del queso?"
"The second one," Jessica sighed as she looked at me. "What's wrong with you today? You seem down in the garabage cans."
I grinned and shook my head, "It's down in the dumps, not garabage cans. How come you never can get any expressions right?"
"Hey! I sometimes get them right!"
"Sure! Whatever you say!"
"Hmph!"
I just laughed. She pouted. I looked at my watch and sighed. It was study hall time, not like any work got done, but I needed to start an assignment for biology.

The next day went by fast, and then it was the last class of the day, drama, where something I never had expected happened.
"Good morning class, today we will be picking parts for our yearly play. But this time, it's not a play, we are doing a musical," a few kids snickered. She glared at them. "We are doing the musical The Phantom of the Opera. And I have picked the major parts."
All the kids that wanted the big parts waited in anticipation, I looked at Jessica and I rolled my eyes.
"This year's Phantom will be Mr. Masters. Congratulations!" Brad, stood up dumbfounded, but quickly regained his composure.
"This year's Christine Daač will be played by Miss Anderson!" I didn't realize that she called my name until I noticed everyone staring my way. I stood up and followed Brad to the front of the room.
"And for our Raoul, Mr. Golden," he looked straight at me and smiled. I was so happy he was at least Raoul, though not the phantom.
And then I realized, I had to kiss both Cody and Brad. Things were not looking up. First the homecoming dance, and now this.
"Smaller parts will be given out to you later, everyone will have at least a little part," our teacher smiled at us again, "Congratulations you three!"
Then, she gave us each scripts and we started practicing the movements and speaking parts, the actual singing parts would be worked during after school time. Then she gave us each a CD with all the songs, "To help you vocalize," she had said. "While they are practicing, we will have tryouts for Andre, Firmin, Carlotta, Piangi, Meg, Madam Giry, and many other parts."
I wished Jessica good luck and Brad, Cody, and I walked into the backroom, where we were supposed to practice. But that's not what happened, Cody refused to even look at Brad and, Brad, Brad was even worse, he grinned his catchy grin and stared at me. I walked over to Cody and gave him a hug, and congratulated him. I caught the triumphant glare that Cody sent Brad, saying that I was his.
"Let's get to work," I suggested. "What part do you want to start at?"
"How about our kissing scene?" Brad asked. Cody sent him a dirty look, but I just shrugged it off.
"Why don't we just start from the beginning, I'll be the Auctioneer for you Cody." I looked carefully at my script. And started my best auctioneer voice, "Sold for thirty francs to the Victome de Chagny. Thank you, sir."
Cody looked at his lines for a minute then started, "A collector's piece indeed...every detail exactly as she said-"
"Wait, that's not the right tune, let's turn on the CD and listen."
Brad stared at me, "You know the whole thing by heart, why don't you sing one of your parts?"
I blushed, "Not yet. I-"
"Time to go you three!" Jessica came in, looked at us and left. I sighed as I gathered my books and left, leaving the two boys to fend for themselves.

The bus ride home was long. Brad kept throwing glances at me, while Cody just stared off into space. I kept my mind off them as I was humming songs from the musical. I was in the middle of the song "Prima Dona," when the bus stopped at my stop.
Jessica and I walked over to my house after we got off. We were planing to go to Uniquely U, the famous hair salon in our city. We expected to be done by at least six. The parade is supposed to start at seven, but I am supposed to be there at 6:30, since I'm the homecoming queen.
The salon was packed, but Jessica and I already had a reservation with our favorite stylist. Chris, my stylist, is the coolest female there. She could do anything you asked to your hair, and she had the most awesome ideas.
Adam was Jessica's, the owner of the salon. He could do whatever, he could put in hightlights or whatever you wanted.
Chris was making suggestions on what to do with Jessica's hair as Jessica and I were talking about everything. She then brought me over to the hair sink, where she shampooed and conditioned my hair with their special treatment.
After ten minutes of myself being scrubbed to my scalp, I finally got out of the sink and walked over to get my hair cut.
Chris snipped at my hair and gelled it up, and then finally brought it down, she used her fancy, very professional curling iron. And she brushed my hair out carefully, and sprayed it with holding those moves. Chris then took my bangs and curled them even more, and sprayed them to stay by my face.
Jessica was also supposed to be at the parade by 6:30, since she was one of the queen's escorts. Brad's girlfriend is also an escort. Cody also was an escort, his partner was Brad's girlfriend.
Jessica's hair was in cornrows all around her head, and then was pulled back into a bun. Part of her hair fell out of the bun, and it had streaks of red every so often.
After they put our make-up on, I called my mom from my cell phone. She picked us up and we went into my room to change. We had to take our dresses with us since we were both cheerleaders. We still had to cheer at the game, and still ride in the parade, so we decided that since basically everyone who was in the royal court was either on cheerleading, poms, or football, that we could just wear our uniforms.
Our school colors are green and white. The cheerleading outfits are cute. In the center, there's a line that goes diagonally up on each side. The line has four line in it, switching back from white to green, then white to green. Everything underneath that is green, except at the bottom. There are four more lines. Just a bit above the center of the shirt, are the words, Wildcats. Our skirts are plain white, but at the bottom of it, there are four more lines.
After finished, the time was 6:00. So my mom decided that we should get up there, since we lived twenty minutes away.

I wasn't very happy when we reached our station for the parade. Brad was the only one of royalty that was already there. He grinned and walked over to us.
"Great! You two are finally here!" He looked towards the cars that we will ride. He pointed to the baby blue convertible. "That's ours." he nodded to the red corvette convertible, "that's yours, and the green one is for Alyssa and Cody." He spat Cody's name, venomous, full of hate.
Paul arrived minutes later, Jessica blushed and murmured that she wanted another partner. But secretly I knew, she had a crush on him. He grabbed her arm, and pulled her over to their car.
I wasn't very happy that I was left with Brad. But then I heard Jessica squeal and turned around to see Paul kissing her.
Wanting my attention back on him, Brad turned me around, "Did you know, it's tradition that the homecoming king and queen kiss. Before the football game, and during the dance," he smirked at the horrific look on my face. "Don't worry, it's not like we have to be in front of everyone when we kiss."
I rolled my eyes in disgust and plopped down on the bench. And of course he sat next to me, his arm bumping into mine. I scooted away, and he moved also. Sighing, I realized it was useless, so I leaned back on the bench.
Brad, surprised at my actions, quickly had me lean against him. I was surprised myself that I didn't refuse or pull away. I rested my eyes and started to drift off.
