Reading: my bible, so I can start this essay. |
Friday, February 21st, 2003Last night, I had a dream that a girl from middle school was the undergrad society president at Queen's, and she was insisting that I join the girls' softball team. But for some reason, she was telling me this in the middle of a board meeting, which was taking place in my bedroom. And it wasn't really my bedroom, because it was in a dorm, and it was facing east, but it looked in all other ways exactly like my bedroom. I have no idea what any of that means, but I'm feeling nostalgic about the YMCA sports camp I went to in grade four. I ruled at softball that year. It's reading week, so I've been hanging out at home since last Friday. I've been having a fun time, too. I got to see Caitlin more than I have since, well, since ever. On Saturday, I went to see a silly girly movie with Cait and Lara, which was fun. I miss those girls. As we were leaving the theatre, we were stopped by some kid who was handing out passes to a test screening on Monday, so Cait and I promised we'd go. Then we went out for dinner and margaritas. It was like we were grownups. Which, I guess, we are. Then we went back to Lara's place and watched Sidewalks of New York and chatted. They're nice girls. Sunday, I called Caity and we spent the afternoon at the Interior Decorating Show. Really, I couldn't imagine going with anyone other than Caity. She's so visual and so into design that sometimes I wonder why she never went that way in school. I got excited because they had a display of Vespas (though what they have to do with interior design, i don't know), and a bunch of beautiful European bikes. I also got ideas for painting the kitchen this summer, and Caitlin got a crush on a shower head. It was a very nice shower head. Monday, I lounged for most of the morning, then Cait came to pick me up around 3, and it took us until 5 to drive down to Queen Street (by way of Krispy Kreme, of course). We walked up and down the street for a bit, bought some very cool matching arm socks, and went to see our mystery movie. All we knew about it was the name, so I was all excited. The title was pretty corny, though, so when it started and I found that it was half french and staring Gérard Deepardieu, I was pleasantly surprised. I like the French. My one problem with it was that it didn't have a consistant philosophy on death. On e guy died and they presented it as tragic, but when the bad guy died, it was kind of goofy. I don't like inconsistencies. And I told them so on the evaluation. Tuesday and Wednesday, I did nothing. Well, no, that's not true. I bought yarn is what I did, and then I spent the days trying to teach myself to knit in a circle. It was riveting. Thursday, yesterday, Jessa came to pick me up around 11, and we spent a few hours wandering aimlessly around the mall. We had lunch, Jessa bought makeup, and then we came back to my house to watch the highlights of Season Three Buffy. Good times. Tonight, I'm picking my sister up from the school bus and the family is going to see Gods and Generals. I'm so excited for it that it's almost sad. Tomorrow, I'm for sure writing my bible essay, and Sunday I'm going home to Kingston. So much time, so little accomplished.
