Monday, January 26th, 2004It's amazing how much you can accomplish in one day when you manage to to haul yourself out of bed before noon. Uh, not that I have much experience with sleeping all morning. No sir. I've been cruising along in life for the past few days. It's been nice. Lots of reading got done (though little of it had to do with classes, to be honest), and little personal projects completed to much celebration. Parties attended: 2. Dinners (metaphorically) thrown: 1. Plans made: 3 and a half. Text messages sent: 4. Naps taken: whoa, way too many. It almost seems like my social life has overtaken my academic life. A nice change, that is. Here's a little game I've been playing lately. Every once in a while, I'll try to look at what I'm doing as though I were a 19th Century lady newly arrived via time travel. What would I think about the new Outkast video? Would I like or loathe Princes Street? I'm pretty sure 19th Century me would hate the matching velour sweatsuit trend, no mystery there. But what about hip huggers? Would 19th Century me be all "wow, get down with your liberated self" or would I be more "ah! indecent exposure! I can see someone's midsection! help! Police!" Yeah, I think the second one, too. I'm such a prude. Now, people, it is mid-January and the season is looking bleak. Cold, grey skies, icky, mucky streets, and a constant chill running through you at all hours of the day can't be pleasant, but it all has to be endured at the time of year. But wait! Do not despair. For I bring you great news, happy news, possibly the best news ever. It will warm your hearts and make the weather outside seem tropical, if only you'll let it. Check it out. The Pope likes break-dancing. Yes indeedy. It is true. He still doesn't like gay people, though, so he's not yet perfect. But he's getting damn close! Keep up the good work, JP!
