The Film... Scene by Scene, 1 to 9
Opening Credits (Devo:- Girl U Want)
Here we have a montage of many (in)famous Tank Girl comic book images, along with the new "punctuation" stills drawn for the film. Camp Koala even gets a look in here, and we are shown the comet that has devastated the planet.
Scene One... That Perfect Gift
Tank Girl's monologue sets the scene for the film - there's hardly any water left on
Earth because of the decimation by the comet. We see that the action in set in
the States, from the ruined Golden Gate Bridge. We meet Tank Girl riding her
buffalo, scouring the desert for "that perfect gift" for her
boyfriend. She spies "Ripper leftovers", and here we are introduced
to the Rippers:- "a demonic army of blood thirsty, human eating, purse
snatching mutant creatures". We find out that H
Scene Two... Trespassers will be slapped (Iggy Pop:- Wild Wild Thing)
The Rebel Hideout - Rebecca's home. They have an underground farm where they siphon water to grow vegetables - an offence under the WP regime. Rebecca forces her boyfriend to strip, whilst aiming a laser guided gun at him. She orders him to "salute" her, but he doesn't perform too well under pressure!!
Scene Three... Peanut Dick (Belly:- Thief)
Sam is meant to be making a Doris Day bust for Rebecca, but the wood spoke to her, and it said "Ripper"!! Sam's made a model of her interpretation of a Ripper - no one's actually seen one, and lived to tell the tale.
Scene Four... Water is Power
The action moves to the Water and Power headquarters, where the evil MD, Kesslee, is conducting a debrief. The group of WP officials are toasted a "victory" with blue champagne flutes of water. Kesslee's philosophical and poetic bent is evident from the first words he utters:- "Adam was dust until God injected him with life. And do you know what was in that injection? Water!" 95% of the desert (which must be most of the planet) and the water reservoired below it belongs to the WP. But Kesslee isn't satisfied. Capt. Derouche feels the wrath of this dissatisfaction, having to walk, barefoot, across shards of glass, and having all of the water sucked out of his body with the "water saver". Lovely! Sgt. Small is put in charge of operations.
Whoops... When does Kesslee take his shoes and socks off?
Scene Five... Attenshun! (Bomb:- Bush, Richard Hell and the Voidoids:- Blank Generation)
Rebecca takes guard duty very seriously - she's smoking, drinking and playing with her Elvis head lighter... But the rebel hideout is being watched. Sam visits, and swaps the danger ball Rebecca found for some food. Richard finds the birthday present from Rebecca, with the promise for some "snip snip" action. We assume that the person walking towards Tank Girl is Richard, and so does she, as she starts to cut off her clothes with a pair of children's scissors! But no! It's WP, they've come to raid the Rebel's house. TG gets her own back on her voyeur, by removing the pins from the grenades on his belt. But it's not enough to save Richard who's blown to pieces before her eyes. Sam is taken away, and Rebecca is arrested. If she'd have been doing her job properly, none of this would have happened. This is a great action scene which sounds wonderful in 5.1!! Remember, don't say Butt Smear - it's not becoming.
Scene Six... I'm gonna need a microscope and tweezers
TG comes round from the blow to her head, and offers one of her captors an "oil change" - cue one of the best neck breaks in cinematic history as she twists the head of the trooper who killed Richard!
Scene Seven... Abandon all hope
Eight, eight the burning eight, between Sunday and Monday lies a day so dark it will devastate. TG meets Kesslee, still spouting poetry! Kesslee offers Rebecca a job with WP, but obviously, she's not interested, and she's sent to work in the mines.
Scene Eight... Welcome Scum (Hole:- Drown Soda)
A prisoner is found with a knife and pushed on to an electrified fence. Rebecca doesn't want to miss Baywatch.
Scene Nine... How's the jet, Jet?
Jet Girl is working in the hanger on a plane, rejecting the advances of Sgt. Small.
