Today&Future Forecast Summary

Much has happened weatherwise since I last wrote. Most significantly we had a major warm up last week. Temps peaked into the low and mid 70s at he max day of the "warm"wave. Then we were shocked into reality this last night and this morning with temps into the teens and wind chills below zero. Again winter will try and hold its grip in 2 days when a storm moves up along the coast. At this time it appears that there will NOT be sufficient cold air in place to keep the precip as snow in SEPA. However, some models are hinting at a period of freezing rain. I don't buy that solution. If it's going to warm up during the day tommorrow, then the ground will be too warm to support significant freezing rain. Of course, the trees and other greens will have to deal with it, the roads will be spared. On top of that there is a ton of salt still on the roads from yesterday's burst of snow and icy roads. The only chance of any travel problems will be if HEAVY QPF moves over our area on Thursday. This could allow the atmosphere to do serious evaporational cooling from the precip which may give us snow. Not likely however. I'll try and get back and post again tommorrow night on this storm. Another storm is waiting on Thursday's heels to move across the area this weekend. This one could be more complicated and give us a 1-2 punch of 2 weaker storms rather than one strong storm..8^)...Ev
