Today&Future Forecast Summary10:54 PM: Temp 28F, DP 17F, RH 63%, 1027.2 mb, calm, vis 10 mi, clear, none Clear skies, calm winds at all levels of the atmosphere, and a high centered overhead will allow for good radiational cooling tonight. Temps may fall lower than the prediction above. The next storm system rolls into the area Wednesday afternoon with RAIN. The cold air will be out of here by then. This is evident with tommorrow's high temps in the 50s already. However, later in the week is another story. After the storm moves by Thursday, some "cooler" air will move into the area. This may set the stage for wintry precip later in the week if a storm moves our way as some models are predicting. There still is a ton of uncertainty with this storm as the latest AVN run has it going out to sea off the SE coast. Also, this season has been awful for the models. Countless numbers of times they had predicted snow a few days ahead, even major winter storms, and NOTHING came of it. Real certainty can't be established until at the earliest 36 hours before the storm arrives. This is unlike previous years when models successfully predicted storms several days ahead of time. Noone knows for sure why this winter has been pathetic snow wise and model wise. There are several scenarios such as conditions in the Pacific and Northern Atlantic preventing really cold air and strong lows from reaching the Middle Atlantic. Overall, in otehr parts of the nation, snowfall was only slightly below normal. This is only one particular example, but remember Buffalo. Holy shit they got socked with over 100 inches of snow in their suburbs and 7-8 feet in the city. If only I could've been there to experience the snow. I wonder how high the drifts got. Anyway, winter is not over, but if it continues as it has, Spring is around the corner...8^)...Ev |
