Today&Future Forecast Summary9:45 PM: Temp 45F, DP 39F, RH 81%, 1005.0 mb, wnw 13, vis 10 mi, 100% nmbstr, lt rn Winter is back in business for our area as of less than an hour ago when a cold front swung through our area. The front brought some lt rn, gusty winds, and most notably a sudden drop in temps from the upper 50s to the low 40s in only minutes. If you go outside right now, you'd be in for a shock. Light rain will continue for another hour or so and temps will slowly but steadily fall until the sun comes up tommorrow. During the day tommorrow, temps will stay steady or fall a degree or 2 between 33-35. Tommorrow night big cool down. Some interesting developments today had to deal with a low thats forecasted to spinup along the Delaware coast later tonight and move adjacent to the coastline NEwrd. The AVN has been calling for this, but largely ignored over the past several days. The ETA finally jumped on board today, however it had a warmer solution. Rain will develop in New Jersey and points NEwrd tommorrow. The rain will change to snow, oddly, from SW to NE throughout the day. As the low strengthens, precip will slowly intensify likely giving one or 2 locations several inches of snow tommorrow. Those locations will likely be in Maine or NH where wrap around moisture will stick around as the pool of cold air continues to drain in from Canada. In addition, the weekend storm showed up stronger and colder on today's model runs. This could mean much needed heavier precip for the Mid-Atlantic and NE and even some wintry precip somewhere inland. If we don't get some precip around here soon, the grass is going to be pathetic in a couple weeks when it starts getting warmer outside. Have to keep an eye on this weekends storm. AFter that, the OMRF and ECMWF are leaning towards a MAJOR cold outbreak early next week which would even be cold for mid-January standards. This, again is hard to believe considering there is no snow on the ground to keep the cold air together as it travels southward, and the sun is at a higher angle this time of year. About 5-7 days ago the models were predicting similar temperature readings for our area tommorrow, but the final result ended up being several degrees warmer than the original model predictions because of the above mentioned reasons....whew. Ok enough for now...8^)...Ev |
