Today&Future Forecast Summary10:58 PM: Temp 37F, DP 32F, RH 81%, 1025 mb, n 5 mph, vis ~2 mi, 100% str/fog, drzl Occasional rain and drizzle fell today with temps staying mostly in the 30s. North of here in the poconos, there was an extended period of below or at freezing temps with rain and drizzle. No word on how that affected things up there. All I've heard is that there were some school delays and cancellations. Those hilly roads must become difficult to travel on in freezing rain Tommorrow another storm along this stalled out front will approach our area in the afternoon. Currently there are numerous flood watches and warnings from the mid-mississippi valley eastward to TN and KY. This batch of precip will move ENE our way and give us another shot at .5-1" of liquid precip. Some models tonight are showing new data that would give many areas of PA/NJ/NY a mixture of rain/snow/ice. Right now, cold air is seeping southward from SE Canada and the great lakes. This isn't significant artic air, however it may be dry enough to allow for evaporational cooling condusive to snow. Since the bulk of the precip will fall tommorrow night, anyone that has snow and temps at or below freezing will see some descent snow totals. The best chances for higher snow amounts are, this time of year, in the higher elevations. Changes will be made to the forecasts later tonight that will give some people another surprise to hear the word snow in the forecast. Maybe this is winters last hoorah this week, or maybe its a trend for the next week or so. Either way, we need the precip because of the drought...8^)...Ev |
