Today&Future Forecast Summary

10:09 PM: Temp 63F, DP 60F, RH 90%, 1020.4 mb, s 7, vis 8 mi, 100% str/nmbstr, lgt rn

Here is my first weather forecast since returning from London last week. We were fortunate weather wise as highs each day topped in the middle 60s with brilliant sunshine. It was their first break from the winter overcast that usually shadows the island each year. The weather in the Philadelphia area has been anything but tranquil between the last weather forecast and this one. Most of the flowering trees and early spring flowers have come and gone over the past 2 weeks as there were periods of 60-70 degree temps followed by cold snaps similar to those we had in the middle of winter. For example, this past Friday and Sat, highs struggled to get out of the 30s with off and on snow flurries/showers throughout the day. The snow was caused by a combination by an upper-level disturbance to the north of here and winds off of the lakes. It was quite a shock to see snow falling that's for sure.

As for the upcoming week, spring will slowly and steadily increase its influence over the region. Even with the passage of a cold front tonight, temps will still climb into the upper 60s tommorrow with a north wind. That is thanks to a warmer April sun and downsloping winds off of the Appalachians which I would imagine may have something to do with it. The remainder of the week will give us mostly sunny skies with highs 60-70. Showers could move in later in the forecast around Sunday or Monday, however even then it will only get warmer into the 70s. It's definately shorts weather now at the very least. My fav is shorts and a long-sleeve t-shirt...quality for warm days and cool nights.

Our only worry is the continuing drought. Signs have not yet been seen in the vegetation, however that will change as the days get warmer and the sun gets stronger. We need rain bad. Maybe some prayer wouldnt hurt about now. Otherwise, it could get ugly this summer...8^)...Ev
