Today&Future Forecast Summary

Currently in HATFIELD, PA(3rd forecast from here)@12:37AM, 38F, dp 30F, 73%, 1026.6mb, calm, clng unlimeted ft., vis 10mi, 0% clouds

A low pressure is moving up the Appalachians. As the low appraches the Mid-Atlantic a secondary low will form along the coast of New Jersey and Long Island. This secondary low will keep far interior regions cold enough for sleet and freezing rain over New England and New York. It looks like my cousins in Grafton, Mass could have a small-scale ice storm tommorrow morning. As for us in WARM SEPA, it's going to be a complete rain event. As the warm-front approaches the region overnight, rain will overspread us. The rain will last into early tommorrow night. Temperatures will rise during the entire duration. Finally, they will fall off tommorrow night as the secondary low strengthens and moves to the northeast. However, this cool down will still have temperatures slightly above normal. That's just friggin nuts that a cold spell is above normal. There will be some light rain/snow showers Thursday, nothing to get excited about.

The real oppurtunity for a winter event takes place just in time for Christmas. The models tonight were leaning towards a low pressure that ran up the Appalachians and reformed along the Middle Atlantic coast. Depending on how strong the primary low in the Appalachians is will determine how much warm air moves in. If the secondary low forms earlier, then the cold air will get sucked down from Canada and this will be a snow/sleet event. It's relaly too early to tell. Anyone who actually makes a forecast and puts their name to it is asking for trouble. This entire Fall and Winter season the models have been unreliable in the mid and long-range periods. I think since around mid-Novemember the 7-10 day forecasts have predicted snowy weather and VERY cold temperatures. Yeh, and it was almost 80 degrees in the beginning of December. We need some new computer models. That's what I'll do when I get a degree possibly.

Ok, that's enough weather for tonight. Keep checking in for more updates on the Dec. 23-25 event next week. Elsewise, enjoy this week of crisp 40 degree weather and sunny skies. Have a great day...8^)...Ev
