Journal exerpt September 12th, 2001

Yesterday I witnessed on live television the most horrific side of humanity. Two monumental skyscrapers in NYC and the nerve of our military , the Pentagon, were attacked by our own hijacked commercial airliners. How could any human being committ such indispicable actions. I only know of one other man in history that stood out above all evil men, Adolf Hitler. He killed people with ease. Yester 5-12 hijackers killed possibly over 20,000 innocent civilians with ease. This was not an unorganized attack either. These men planned every part of their attack.

My hear struggles to deal wtih the turmoil of emotions. I'm glued to the news which only saddens me more. I try to hold back tears, but when I see families of the victims holding flyers with pictures of their loved ones, its too much to bear. Tears trickle from my eyes. At the same time an enormous surge in patriotism and anger grows inside. I fear what is to come with such a global response.

Every person inteh world has been affected emotionaly by yesterdays acts of war. And everyone will continue to feel pain as there undoubtedly will be grave actions by the U.S., its allies, and the terrorists in the short, mid, and long-term.

Tommorrow or Friday I want to meet with Fr. McShane and some large company like Walmart to consider having Walmart selling U.S. flags on the commons whereas all money will be donated towards aid in New York and Washington. Hopefully this can spark the hearts and minds of college students at the U to have patriotism and respect for the deceased families.

I am sad and scared for my life.
