WHAT IS THIS SMJ?
Saber Marionette J (SMJ) was an anime,
made in Japan, and based on a novel series of the same name.
Originally released in 1996, it has branched off into an OVA
(Original Anime Video) Series called J Again, and also a second
TV series (J to X). Action packed and very amusing, it is worth
the attention of any anime fan.
WHAT IS SMJ ABOUT?
SMJ focuses around the settlers of the planet Terra II. With an emmigration vessel from earth, a terrible accident occured in which there were only six survivors...all of them men. They
made clones to survive but no matter what they tried, they couldn't
create a female. So, to fill that void, they manufactured a robot to act exactly as a human female would, a marionette.
Saber Marionette J actually begins 300 years later, and involves the short-tempered Otaru Mamiya, and his three marionettes Lime, Cherry, and Blood Berry. These three special marionettes possess a
highly advanced circuit which grants them feelings and thoughts beyond that of a normal marionette.
SMJ follows their daily life, which isn't exactly normal. Things
are far from calm, however, as the Emperor of Geltland, Gerhardt von Faust has decided to wage war against the other five countries.
What will become of the unlikely hero, Otaru, and his newfound
marionettes? And what hidden agendas are hidden in the mind of Faust?
