Xel-Chan

Baka: First off, what can you tell me about yourself?
Xel: Umm, well... I'm a 15-year-old yaoi writer ^^;;, but it doesn't show! ^.~ ...Does it? Hopeless romantic, fairly optimistic, and a bit of a literary masochist; I deeply enjoy flames. ^~

Baka: That's the stupidest thing you've ever done?
Xel: Wow, there's a tough question... XD I'm not entirely sure... though there was the time I leaned in to take a bagel from the school cafeteria and ran into the scneeze guard... ^-^;;;;

Baka: What would you say is your greatest personal triumph?
Xel: It's a little soon in my life to know what it really means to triumph over various odds, I think, but generally speaking, I would say my need for self-expression and remaining steadfast in my beliefs, yet still open-minded, will help get me there. ^^

Baka: What are a few of your favorite things (food, movies, music, etc.) ?
Xel: Ooh... I love anime of many genres as well as a good RPG.. ^^ Video games are a big passion of mine, too. Oh, and we can't forget yaoi...I write poetry and fanfiction in what little free time I have... I love Japanese food, though I HATE fish.. paradox, huh? ^^; Chicken/vegetable tempura is my favorite... and if you've never had tempura ice cream, you have not truly lived. ^.~ Though really, I like a lot of things. My idea of a really fun job is, expectedly, a restaurant critic. =3

Baka: Do you idolize anyone?
Xel: I wouldn't say I IDOLIZE anyone, really... as for admiration, though, there's too many to name...

Baka: What was your first encounter with SMJ like?
Xel: I was about 11 or 12 when my former anime club showed the first ep of SMJ... the thing that really stuck in my mind about it was Hanagata... I wanted to see more of his interactions with Otaru, which would surely satisfy my newfound love of yaoi... ^_~

Baka: Are there any characters you would say stand out in your opinion from the rest? How so?
Xel: Hanagata Mitsurugi, definitely! I love that boy so... if it weren't for him, I don't think I would have come back for more... Assuming Lady Aoi answers this little set of questions, I'm sure she can articulate it better than I.

Baka: How many times have you seen the SM series'?
Xel: *thinks* 2-4 times, maybe? For SMJ, that is. I've seen SMJA more than that, and I've only seen SMJ to X once, due to horrible subtitling... ^^

Baka: Given the chance, what would you have made different in the original SMJ story?
Xel: I don't think I need to change anything... except for the needless Hana abuse. ;_; He really grows as a character in SMJ to X, and it's a shame that not many people know that yet...

Baka: What sort of SMJ Merchandise do you own?
Xel: 3 SMJ tapes, all of J Again, crappily subbed J to X DVDs... 9_9 Also some little Japanese trading cards and things. I'd KILL for some doujinshi... especially yaoi! <3

Baka: What sort of things do you like to do to get in the mood for writing?
Xel: Read others' fics, listen to music, watch/play/read a little of the thing I wanna write about...

Baka: Do you read fanfic yourself? If so, are there any specific stories out there you would highly recommend to others?
Xel: I do. Very much. ^-^ Lady Aoi does some very good SMJ-fic, and Technomancy (mancer.net) has quite an extensive fic and RP log collection from a variety of anime and games... Yaoi and lemon warnings for both tho.. ^.~

Baka: Have you ever written a fic you thought little of, only to have readers praise it?
Xel: Haaai, the "Beneficial" snippet, which people liked a LOT... still dunno why. o.o;;

Baka: Are there any plans for your future fanfiction writing?
Xel: Whatever comes, comes, I suppose. ^^

Baka: What would you say inspires your fanfic writing (other than the obvious answer of the original works) ?
Xel: *shrug* Being able to see things that wouldn't normally happen or just haven't happened during the course of the story... filling in plotholes and whatnot. ^^

Baka: Are you more comfortable writing serious or humorous stories?
Xel: Ah... serious. Because the definition of serious is more concrete than humor, it's harder to mess up. ^^

Baka: How long in estimate does/would it take you to write a full fanfic?
Xel: Yeesh... I work in fits and starts, so it can take me from a couple hours to a couple months... ^^;

Baka: What would you say are the most important traits a writer should have?
Xel: Creativity and a fairly thick skin... *nodnod*

Baka: What is your stance on Yaoi/Yuri (guy+guy and girl+girl relationship) fics?
Xel: ...................... :3

Baka: Do you have any questions to ask me?
Xel: Nopenope! ^.^

Baka: Thank you for your honesty and time...
Xel: Thank YOU! ^.^
