"Giles?" A timid and familiar voice asked from behind him.

Giles tuned round smiling, eager to once again see his ex-slayer, before he could express his pleasure Buffy crashed into him, throwing her arms around him and burying her head in his chest.

"Shh. It's ok." He had no idea what had upset Buffy this much but automatically started to comfort her. He gently stroked her hair as she calmed down.

"I'm sorry, Giles" She apologised looking up at him, arms still surrounding him.

"I just, I didn't know if you'd come."

"Buffy, of course. How could you think otherwise?"

Giles was mortified that Buffy could think such a thing of him, maybe leaving hadn't been such a good idea after all.

"It'll be allright Buffy. Lets get you to my car."

"Thanks Giles. I'll need to get a hotel or something."

"Don't be absurd." Giles told her."You're staying at my house, London hotel prices are abomnably high."

They walked to the car in a slightly awkward but releaved silence. Both had worried that Buffy's 18th birthday could have caused an irreparible rift between them and were glad to know that it could be repaired. However the months apart had changed their relationship and neither was now quite sure where they stood now.

Willow was freaked out not only had she cheated on Oz....again, it was with someone that she only just knew and most of the time held in contempt. She didn't regret it, but...what was she supposed to do now.

Days went past and still Willow had come no closer to a resolution, so far her only solution to the situation had been to avoid both Oz and Wesley, except when completly necessary, which as expected caused great bemusment to both of the men involved. Willow loved Oz and they were best friends, she could go to him with all her problems. She could say neither of these things about Wesley, he would probably laugh out loud at many of her problems considering them juvenile and inconsequential. But lately she'd been feeling trapped in her relationship with Oz, he was just so lovely and considerate, she was bored.

While this debate was going on in Willow's head a rather louder one was happening in the room around her. The Library was full of the Scooby's, Xander was standing up shouting at the watcher who seemed to have caused so many problems since his arrival. Willow sighed realising she would have to leave the rest of her contemplation till later and started listening.

"I'm sorry Wesley but...No wait I'm not sorry. And we're not just going to be ordered around by you. We work as a team or not at all."

"Yeah I mean that tack didn't even work on Buffy and you're supposed to have some kind of authority over her." added Cordy before walking out of the library, dragging Xander with her.

For a while there was silence in the room. Then Oz started talking.

"I think you're gonna have to join in on patrol." Willow could tell he'd been trying to fix this situation, thinking it over first as he always did. It irritated her that he was giving Wesley a chance for some reason. She knew it was irrational but wasn't this whole situation?

"But I'm a watcher! We train and support and make the decisions. They don't teach us how to kill them ourselves. I don't have special strength like the slayer..." Oz let wesley ramble until he ran out of things to say.

"We don't have special anything either. It's the only way they'll accept you."

Oz smiled at Willow, pleased that'd he'd managed to help the situation, looking at his watch he stood up, "I've got Chem now, You coming Will?"
"Umm,No I've got a free, so I'll stay here for a bit I think."
"Ok" He replied kissing her on the cheek as he walked past and out of the library.

Once he'd left Willow turned to Wesley and saw him looking dejectedly at the floor.
"Don't sulk Wesley." Willow snapped at the replacment watcher. She'd been irritated by Oz and now she was snapping at Wesley, well at least Wesley was partly to blame for this predicament but even so Willow was ashamed at her distinctly unusual behaviour. Looking back at Wesley she expected that the cross remark would have made him even more dejected but instead he had a slight smile on his face.
"Yes you're right. I don't know what I'd do without you I'll just have face it like a man and not hide behind my watcher status." And with this declaration wesley grabbed Willow by the waist and pulled her towards him kissing her.

Oz stood at the door. Horrified and hurt. First Xander and now this sniveling ecuse for a man. As usual he looked blank but as he turned and left he could feel the rage boiling up inside.
