Chapter 4
Cat looked at Liz.
"Why are they here?" referring to the guys.
"Well, they're doing a concert
in Denver and so they came to surprise us."
"Oh. Cool. How are
you guys?" she asked, talking to Chris and Lance. They'd met
in June, when Liz started dating Chris and Lex, Lance and Chris came down
to help the girls move to Denver. Cat hadn't met the other three
members of N'Sync yet, although Liz had.
"We're doing okay," Chris said.
He pointed to Joey and JC. "This is Joey and JC. And by now
you know Justin." He snickered.
"Very funny," she told him.
She turned to the guys. "Hi. I'm Cat."
"Hello," Joey said, his eyes roaming
over her body.
"Hi," JC said. Justin came
back in the room. He stood a few feet from cat, hands on hips.
Cat turned and faced him. They were both a few feet from the chair.
They glanced at it, then back to each other. They ran to the chair
at the same time.
They got to it at the same time
and sat down. Cat tried to shove Justin off of it. "Get out
of the chair, you punk," Cat muttered.
"Go to hell."
Liz got off Chris' lap. "Okay
you two, stop it." She pulled Cat off the chair and tried to pull Justin
up. "Chris, get over here and help me."
"Okay," he said and the two of
them pulled Justin up.
"Hey..." Justin started to say;
he was interrupted by Liz.
"Hay's for horses."
"Very funny," Justin told her.
"Whatever. Lance and Lex,
you can have the chair."
"But..." both Cat and Justin said.
"A but is the thing holding up
your pants," Liz said. They glared at her. Cat turned to Justin.
"It's all your fault," she yelled.
"No, it's not. It's all your
fault," he yelled back.
"I don't think so." Cat started
to walk to her room.
"Fuck you, bitch."
"Not in this life time."
Cat grabbed her shoes and wallet and walked back to the living room.
"I'm going out." She left, slamming the door behind her.
Seconds later, they heard her car
pull out; she didn't come home until five the next morning.
