Chapter 8

Cat and Justin looked at each other and ran to the door.
"You can't do this to us,"  Cat yelled.
"We'll kill each other," Justin said.
"No you won't," Chris said.  "you two are staying in there.  We don't care what you say or do."
"Bye," Liz called.
Cat pounded on the door.  "Don't you dare leave."
They heard laughter threw the door;  the front door slammed.
Cat and Justin walked away from the door; Cat sat on a chair by the window and Justin sat on the bed.
A silence descended on the room.  Every few minutes, Cat would look up at Justin.  His eyes would fall.  A few minutes later, he'd look up and Cat would drop her eyes.
Should I tell him? Cat thought. I can't keep this to myself any longer.
"Justin," Cat said; and
"Cat," Justin said at the same time.
They stopped and glared at each other.
"Let me go first," they both said.  They glared at each other again.
After a few minutes of looking at each other, they started to laugh.
"I can't even tell you I have a crush on you without arguing," Cat said.
"I try to tell you I like you, but we end up fighting."  They were both weak with laughter.
Neither realized what they said; they sat there laughing for a few minutes before either realized what they said.
Cat was the first to comprehend what she said;  but she didn't realize what Justin said.  She clamped her hands over her mouth and thought, Oh my God, I just said something I shouldn't have.
It finally hit Justin, what he'd said.  He sat up and stared at Cat.  She had her hands over her mouth and her eyes were huge.
Silence descend on the room once again.  They stared at each other for what seemed like hours, but was actually only minutes.
Cat moved her hands from her mouth.  She gulped.  He isn't doing anything.
Justin couldn't have spoken if someone held a gun to his head, his throat was so dry.  Why isn't she saying anything, even laughing?  At least then I'd know she knows I'm alive.
Cat glanced away from Justin, then looked back at him.  Okay, here goes.
"I've liked you ever since we started talking," she rushed out, speaking fast.  "And our first meeting just made me like you even more."  she was wringing her hands and chewing her lips.  She got up and stared out the windows.
Justin got off the bed and walked up behind her.  He placed his hands on her shoulder.
"I've liked you since then, too."
