Part Three: Everything's coming up tragedy. Zack slipped into the hotel room. Why did he have the feeling that something big was about to happen? Zack's three allies followed. Then they stopped. Carmen was lying unconscious before them. "Maybe we should get her to a hospital," Valerie suggested. "What will we tell them?" Ivy asked. She poked at the bust, which lay on the floor. "They'll be suspicious- of us." "You're right." Valerie answered. "I think Carmen will regain consciousness in a couple hours. But still, it was a large object." Nigel nodded. Then he picked up Carmen carefully and set her on the bed. "It's odd. This is the first time our double lives have actually crossed." "I forget." Zack said. "Are you two med students or something?" "We're EMTs, actually." corrected Valerie. *********************************************************************** Carmen breathed deeply. She was still stuck in Cyprus. Not to mention this strange world. Why was Zack married? He did look slightly older. And it was obvious that Lee was Iago. But how did it all fit? Carmen steadied herself for what she had to do now....foil Lee's, or rather Iago's plot. She thought of a certain misunderstanding involving a handkerchief of Desdemona's. In fact, Othello had given it to her. The door to Lenore's bedroom was open. Carmen spotted Anie rummaging in a drawer and tuck a small white cloth into her pocket. "Anie!" Anie looked at her strangely. "I beg your pardon." "Emilia?" "Yes?" "Give me the handkerchief. Please." Carmen begged. "Why should I?" "Please.....just hand over the handkerchief." the master thief requested. She quickly explained what would happen if everything worked the way Iago wanted to. Then she heard a cry. Anie had dropped the handkerchief in shock. Carmen quickly picked it up and stuck it in her trenchcoat pocket. Anie quickly left. Carmen pulled out the handkerchief and examined it. It was a very fine cloth, embroidered with strawberries. "If I dropped this back in the room, Emilia or Iago could come in and steal it again. If I threw this on the ground, Cassio or Iago could pick it up." Carmen quickly decided to take it with her. She began to quiver uncontrollably...... ************************************************************* "Nigel! Val!" Zack yelled in the actual world. "Help! She's having a seizure!" "Oh, dear." Valerie cried. "Ivy, help me get her coat off." A few minutes later, the seizure had stopped. "It's all right. We've been trained to do this." Nigel reassured. He contacted the Chief. "Has Carmen ever had history of epilesy?" "No, never," the Chief answered. "I can't explain it." Nigel said flatly. ********************************************************************** Carmen looked around. The surroundings had blurred, then cleared. Now she was in a stone building, in Europe, to say the least. Just then, she heard a voice. It was a woman with a mixed accent. She knew that voice anywhere. It was Sara Bellum! Carmen entered a large dining hall. "So this is the unexpected guest," the person at the head of the table observed. He got up and walked to her. The light from the candles made it easier to see his face. Carmen recognized him. It was Nigel, one of the paramedics! "So, King Duncan will arrrive shorrrtly," Sara informed. King Duncan? Carmen wondered. What was this? Macbeth? "Sara? Nigel? What are you two doing?" The pair stared back. Carmen was struck with fear. Could it be that Nigel was Macbeth? And that Sara Bellum was Lady Macbeth? And then who was King Duncan? She found out soon enough. The King's servants arrived, escorting Mason Dixon. "Oh no," Carmen muttered. "First Othello, now Macbeth." Another horrible thought struck her. Mason, Nigel, and Sara were about to die! To be continued.............
