SUBJECT: 2000/01 Registration & Mandatory Meetings

Any individual expecting to officiate interscholastic and/or intercollegiate swim meets during the 2000/01 academic year should be a member of the Eastern Massachusetts Swimming Officials Association prior
to the start of competition in September, 2000.

This registration renewal/application will be the only opportunity to renew or join for the upcoming year which includes both tall and winter high school seasons as well as college competition.

Individuals attempting to officiate without being recognized as a certified member of a professional officials association may incur a serious liability circumstance involving proof of competence and of course they would not be covered under our officials liability insurance plan. (Included with receipt of your registration fee). Reminder for those who are involved, U.S. Swimming liability insurance does not cover recreational league, interscholastic or intercollegiate events. Current enrollment in the Collegiate Swimming Officials Association does not include liability insurance at this time.

The enclosed Registration Form must be filled out completely and returned with a check for $46.00 made out to "E.M.S.O.A." by June 23, 2000. We will be providing new shirts this year.

All officials are REQUIRED to attend one mandatory professional meeting in the fall prior to the start of swimming competition. Attendance at these meetings provides confirmation of participation as an active member of a professional association. As usual, discussions at these meetings will focus on any rule changes in order to provide uniform interpretation and consistent officiating.

All necessary rule books, informational materials, and paperwork required for the 2000/01 competitive season will be provided at the following meetings: (It is only necessary to attend one of these
meetings). 
 
 

EMSOA is attempting to minimize the extra effort required to register officials on an individual basis after the requested renewal date. Following the convention now in effect by other officiating boards, there will be an additional charge of $20.00 to process registrations after JUNE 23, 2000.
