Comments::
We had a major upset this week with the Dubbers coming from third place
to clinch first place for the first half of the year. Don "Tiger Woods"
Brown did a great job carrying his sorry ass "A" player (Jim Mcdaniel) on
to victory. The Hazards and Niblicks who were the first and second place
teams were too busy strutting around the course to play serious golf. They
were thinking one of them was going to take first place. The Dubbers, of
all the teams to let sneak past you, shame on you. The Dubbers are thinking
of changing their team name to "Snakes in the Grass". Oh, the Dubbers
opponents (Fred "I'd rather be drunk" Founier and Doug "I'll take a dive for
a beer" Cokely) also had some involvement in this conspiracy. It was
rumored
that the Dubbers agreed to buy The Hickory Sticks as many beers as they
wanted if they would blow the match. I understand that Doug Cokely played a
round earlier in the day to determine how many bad shots he could make
before coming under suspicion. I must say that Steve Goulding tried his
best by shooting a 38, very nice round. Steve was trying almost too hard,
on number 3 he tried to tee off from the red tees, but his opponents
wouldn't
let him. By the 8th and 9th hole the pressure was getting too much for him,
on both holes his hands were shaking when he putted, but he made the putts
on both holes. Steve is golfer of the week.
I had the pleasure, or should I say horror of watching several groups tee
off on the first hole. If you were standing anywhere near the middle of the
fairway you were safe from being hit by a ball. We had the trees on the left
and right of the fairway covered as well as the area 50 yards in front of
the tee. Oh, my drive was one of the 50 yard shots.
Don Worth was in trouble with the rules committee again this week. On
number 2 Don grabbed way too much club for his drive. His drive was fading
right and was going to be well past the green, but it hit one of the bags
of the foursome ahead of him, bounced on the green and ended up 7 feet from
the pin. Don sank the putt for a bird. Should it count?
NOTE: I want you all to notice that my team is teeing off last next week.
You can be sure it won't happen again.
