Shannen Biography
On April 12, 1971 Shannen Maria Doherty was born to tom, a bank employee, and Rosa, the owner of a beauty parlor. At age of seven, the family (also containing Shannen's 4 year older brother Sean) moved to Los Angeles. Shannen then already knew she wanted to become an actress. Things moved quickly, and at age of 10 Shannen made her debut with a role on the series Father Murphy.
When Micheal Landon saw her on Father Murphy, he cast her as Jenny Wilder on the final season of Little House on the Prairie. After that, Shannen starred in several TV movies and other appearances and even starred in some real movies. Finally, in 1989, a grown up Shannen starred next to Winona Ryder in Heathers.
But the big turn came in 1990, when the little show Beverly Hills, 90210 hit the tv screen. Shannen got cast as Brenda Walsh, and the series, and Shannen, became really popular.
After 4 years of being Brenda, Shannen left the show, partly because she had constant fights with her cast mates and producer Aaron Spelling. She became a tabloid favorite, the girl 'everyone loved to hate' as she married and divorced several times. Slowly, her career started to go downwards, she even got into a physical fight with a woman at a bar and was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.
But although her personal life was making tabloid headlines, her professional life was going good. Shannen proved that she realy was a filmstar by starring in several movies. Then, she got cast at the new show Charmed, again with producer Aaron Spelling. Playing one third of the popular Power of Three, Shannen proved that her life after Beverly Hills, 90210 wasn't that bad at all!
On May 14, 2001, Shannen left Charmed.
