BEING A BROWNIE SCOUT IN 1996-1997

We saw The Beauty And The Beast Ice Show, went on two hikes, had a cookout, went to an African Dance class and much more. We gave an African culture presentation at our Thinking Day gathering, where we showed the other girls a dance, sang a chant and shared African food with them.

We sang a very funny folk song called "Turkeys" by Gerri Gribi in a lip sync show our council hosted. We acted out the whole song, it was quite a work out and a great time!

A girl in our troop sold over 175 boxes of cookies. We are very proud of her. Because we did so well in our cookie sales we were able to save some money over so we can go to a horseback riding camp. That is one of our big goals!

One Saturday we went to the technical college for a council seminar and earned a health badge. It was a lot of fun there were 125 girls there and we all met new friends and learned a lot about our bodies and how to keep them healthy.

On April 29 we had our 1997 Buffet and Ceremony. The girls that were "flying up" to their next level in Girl Scouts were accepted by girls from that level. Each leader introduced her girls and told about what they had done this year and about the badges that were earned. I received eight try it badges and a cookie sales recognition badge, but my biggest thrill was finding my CyberScout Badge in the mailbox that same day! I did it!!! Thanks to all of you!

For our last school meeting a local pastry baker came and showed us how to decorate cakes. We each did our own cupcake with a fancy edge and writing. May 17, a puppet workshop, was our last council activity for the school year. During the summer I went to girl scout camp for the first time and it was the most fun! We did crafts, hikes, songs, games and thousands of other fun things. What a great year we had!

Back to this year!
