My best holiday was in Cuxhaven. Cuxhaven is on the North Sea. There are the only and biggest mud-flats in the world. We went to the mud-flats every day. The hotel had a good swimming pool. I and my family went into the pool every day in the evening. We walked to the “Kugelbake”. That is a tower. That was very nice. At seven o’clock we went to the restaurant. At twelve o’clock we went to bed..

Last year we stayed in the Caribean. We spent 14 days at a hotel. The name of the hotel was Bambu. It had 5 stars. In the pool was a bar. I, my grandma and my grandpa made a trip to an island. At 8 o’clock the buses waited in front of the hotel. We had to sit an hour in the bus. Then we arrived at the Caribean Sea. There we went on a catamaran. Then we were on the island. Its name is Saura. The island is not very big. Then we went on a speedboat. We had to wear life jackets. After half an hour we went on a paddle-steamer with the name Mississippi-Dampfer. It was fantastic. We saw Steffi Graf’s villa. After 45 minutes we went by bus to the airport. There we went on a little propeller-driven plane. We landed in Punta Cana. There we went by bus to another hotel. The trip was very good.

Last summer my family and I spent two weeks in Denmark. The town where we were was called Tranum. Our house was very old, but very nice. The garden was very big, but the grass was very long. Near our house was a pasture, on it was a friendly horse. Every day my sister and I gave him some sugar, apples and grass. Sometimes, when we weren’t on the beach, we went for a walk on a mountain with a very big, beautiful wood. When we were on the beach my brother and my father made a sandcastle. Around was a very, very small river, and Gina, our dog, ran into the sea. One day  my father, my sister and I went swimming in the sea, but the water was too cold for swimming. So it went for two weeks.

Last year my grandparents and I went to Mayrhofen in Austria. We stayed at a hotel. We spent ten days in Austria. We went on walks in Mayrhofen and on the mountains. The mountains were snowy and on the mountains were skiiers. We went to Mayrhofen by coach. It was a long way. The weather was warm but one day snow lay on the ground. It was a nice holiday.

 Last Christmas my family and I went to Poland. It wasn’t a planned holiday, it was an idea from my parents.
I didn’t like the idea, because I had a bad feeling. So we started to pack. All was hectic. Everybody ran through the rooms. My mum got angry and suddenly my father shouted, “Stop, did anybody see my new jacket? I must find it!” But in the end everybody found their clothes, so we could start.
We started with a smile on our faces but our laughs stopped quickly. Why? Because something unbelievable happened:
Some metres after we had passed the border our car stopped! We were about 200 km away from home and it was very cold. We had -7° and it was a dark night! Nothing worked anymore. We didn’t know what we should do. My father went out of the car and tried to find out what had happened. My father didn’t know so he stopped another car. And this was our luck. Because in the car was a nice and friendly woman who helped us. She gave us a lift to the next town. and she called a hotel to give us a room for the night.
As we arrived we saw that it was called “Motel Moniqa”. It looked very nice. So we went in. Inside everything was nice, too. And then a lady came to us and made food for us. We got everything we wanted. But we weren’t really hungry. Then we got the keys for our room. But before we could choose between normal hotel rooms and a small flat. We took the small flat. As we got in it was wonderful. It was very warm and clean. We had three big rooms. Two for the children (for me and my sister) and a bedroom with a living room. We also had a kitchen and a big bathroom. Outside we had a very big garden with a small swimming pool but we couldn’t swim in it because it was so cold and everywhere was snow. The beds were very soft and we slept like angels in them.
The next morning we had some problems because somebody had to repair our car. We found a man who did it. And we forgot our problems as we saw the very good breakfast.
So it wasn’t the worst holiday but as we got the bill for everything my father suddenly got a very big headache, hahaha …!





Ein Beispiel für die Arbeit im bilingualen Geschichtsunterricht zeigt das folgende Ergebnis einer Gruppenarbeit.

Das Einstiegsthema in den Geschichtsunterricht der Kl. 8 wird unter der Überschrift “Inventions and discoveries“ behandelt. In dieser Unterrichtseinheit erfahren die Schüler zum einen, wie sich zu Beginn der Neuzeit das Bild der Menschen von der Welt durch neue Erfindungen grundlegend zu verändern beginnt. Zum anderen wird erarbeitet, wird berühmte Entdecker wie Vasco da Gama oder auch Christoph Columbus beginnen, die Welt zu erforschen und neue Länder zu entdecken.
Eine Aufgabe für die Schüler bestand darin, in einer Gruppenarbeit ein Gespräch zu entwickeln, in dem Columbus am spanischen Hof vorspricht, um den spanischen König von seinem Plan zu überzeugen, auf westlichem Seeweg nach Indien zu segeln.


At the Spanish court

Columbus wants to convince the King of Spain of his plan to sail westwards to India. Together with a seaman and a missionary he comes to the King´s castle.

Scene one:
Columbus, the missionary and the seaman are standing in front of the King´s castle. They are talking about the situation.

Columbus: What do you think, how can we convince the King and his wife?

Seaman: I don´t know. What are you going to do? The earth is flat like a dish. You will fall down if you try to sail westwards.

Columbus: But I´m very sure that the world is round. Here, look at this map!

Seaman: I hope you know that it can be very dangerous on the journey. And I´m a little bit afraid of the people and the animals in India. Perhaps they will kill us.

Columbus: Please, come with me! Tell me, how can I convince you?

Seaman: OK, I will come with you. But only if I get money and gold.
Columbus: That´s OK. Let´s go in then.

Scene two:
They knock on the door of the castle and after a few seconds a man opens...

Man: Who are you? And what do you want?

Columbus: Sorry, we are seamen and we would like to talk to the King.

Man: Come with me.

They go into a big room where the King and Queen are sitting on their throne.

Columbus: We have travelled a long way to ask you if you give us money for a trip to India. And as the way around Africa is very dangerous, our plan is to sail to the west to get to India.

King: Why should I give you money? What are the advantages for me?

Columbus: I promise I will bring you gold and spices.

Missionary: I want to build churches in India and I want to take our good Christian belief to the wild people in India.

King: I think you won´t make it, you will never reach India if you sail to the west.

Columbus: But why not? Here, look at this map! It shows that the world is round. And you can get more power and win new land if we are the first to find this way to India!

King: OK, I think I will give you money.

Columbus: Thank you very much, my dear King.
