When I Close My Eyes

There is just so much, A pair of eyes can see; The sky and clouds and such, Dappled light upon a tree. But when I close my eyes, I can see a million more; Somewhere far away, Someone closed a car door. I feel the wind blow through my hair, And rays of sunlight touch my face; Little birds sing merry tunes, Of a kind and gentle place. My Mum's cooking fills the air, As I swing upon my seat; I feel the prickle of the grass, As they crunch beneath my feet. The quiet whisper of the breeze, As it blows the leaves apart; But most of all I hear, The steady beating of my heart. -- Anonymous
