Dysoon |
~*An Empty Weyr*~ |
It is a fine day and you are
exploring the weyrs. There is one, that strikes you. Looking inside, you see
it is in particuly bad repair. There is dust everywhere, the curtains separating
areas are ragged, torn and stained. There is not one place clean. And there,
lying on a dragon couch, are two boys, playing games. "Dysoon! You cheat!" "Cheat! I never! It was you that moved the wherry!" "Your flit was on the other side of the board!" "I jumped over the wherries and got there!" "Excuse me?" you ask. The two boys turn their heads. "Gyos! Look what you've done!" the smaller moans. "I did? You insisted we play wherries and flits!" "What is 'wherries and flits'?" you ask them, hands on your hips. The larger looks at you, "You mean you do not know?" You shake your head. The larger starts but the smaller gives him a look, "Wherries and flits is a game. There are two players, or teams, and they each have 10 wherries and 2 flits. It uses a board covered in squares, and you can only use gold ones. The teams have to get all the wherries by jumping over them diagonally, except for their own. The first one to get all their wherries over the other side is the winner. When you catch the other teams wherries, they become yours. You need to get 10 wherries to the other side to win." You decide this is highly complicated, but you guess it is simple when you play it. The boy continues, "You can also play Fight the Thread. It has 3 players. There are 10 Threads, 10 Flitters and 10 People. People catch the Flitters, Flitters destroy Thread and Thread destroys people. You need four boards, and join them together to make a kind of triangle shape. One board starts with People, the other Thread and the last Flitters. That uses black squares. You jump over something diagonally and you take it off the board. You play for a certain amount of time, and then you see who has the most of there thing left. They win. If there is a draw, they have a rematch, possibly with one board, if two of them draw with the highest amount. Oh, and I'm Dysoon. This is my weyr. This is my brother Gyos. I am a candidate. He isn't. I am a candidate at Draconia Weyr. He isn't a candidate anywhere. We have to go, and finish our game. Good-bye." And the boys stalk out of the weyr. You sigh. Nothing much to do but go. |
