You take the journey to the next weyr slowly. When you finally arrive, you are
shocked. There are bright colours everywhere! The walls are practically
covered in weavings and paintings. The floor has hot pink mats all over it.
You cringe and step inside, feeling sorry for any dragon who choses this candidate.
At the weyr ceiling are funny rolled up things, all around the edge. Kiza,
would you please, take the rolls down, you hear a voice nearby, and suddenly
a flit is darting around, pulling down the rolled up things and turning mats upside down.
The bright colours are gone, and you blink. The flit goes and sits down on a
table, made of wood, and very simple. You take a closer look at the flit,
Its white! You gasp in surprise.
Kiza is unusual, her colour is quite rare. But, she chose me, and
so she shall stay here, you hear the voice again. You turn around, to
see a teenage boy,
He has red hair and
sparkly blue eyes. He continues, I am Venole, that is my name. I
hope I will need not, tell you again. I am a candidate at Avri Weyr. Kiza, my flit, she is also from there.
Strange though this rhyming, it may seem. I's in a competition and lost did
my team. So I am to rhyme, and others do sing. This way of talking ain't
really my thing. You nod, and look around the weyr. It is large, and
neat. The dragon's couch is over to one side, and loosly padded. The ledge
outside is sunny and spacious. And then Venole starts again, Also, I
was, to use bright colours, here. That was a rule, and so I've made it in my weyr.
We were allowed covers, I've made use of them. With my only problem, sewing
the hem. My speech has been practiced, it's easier than to just speak. I would
be thinking for ages, for this feat. That did not rhyme, I know it this time.
But it's a very hard job to do this. Ordinary speaking, I do miss.
You nod again, asking, How long do you need to do it for?
He answered, I need to still do it, a sevenday. That's in my
speech, thankfully. Thankfully, that word was planned. You know, I hope to be
soon, on Avri Weyr's sand. I said wrong, when I
said, Kiza's from there. She's not from Avri, she's from Bazess Weyr. Now, my speech, it must end.
