"SSSSSSSSSS!"
It's okay, you say to the watch wher, who calms down. It is
gaurding two firelizard eggs and that of a, dragon! The weyr you
enter seems to have mystery in it. It reminds you of stars and
dreams. And sitting with two firelizards, singing, is a young
girl. She must be only old enough to Impress by a day. She has
long, shining golden hair and beautiful green eyes. She wears a
loose dark green robe, past her ankles. She sits upon a worn out
couch, covered in faded patterns. It is a very large weyr, with a
ledge at the far end, with space for a dragon to easily move
around. Gold specks fleek the roof and the walls. Faded pictures,
woven several turns ago, hang on the wall. You listen to the
woman, trying to think what her song might be. Ah, it is Lessa's
Ride. The woman has finished the last verse and turns to you,
"Hello, visitor, I am Yasmina, and this, of course, is my
weyr. I've been given a dragon! I'm Impressing! No one in my
family thinks I'll be able to, but I am. And if I happened to
Impress a gold, whilst not likely, they'd think twice about
doubting my abilities. They also don't think I can sing."
You chuckle to yourself, for her singing was surely the most
beautiful thing you can imagine. "They think," Yasmina
continues, "That I should become a healer. But I have
absolutely no skill in that. Absolutly none. I can do it if
needed, but it is a chore, and I say if you find something a
chore, it's not for you. Of course, I wouldn't think twice if it
was for some Thread-seared rider. Oh gosh, I've been talking all
this time and I haven't even offered you some Klah,"
she says, and rushes off. You wait, looking around the weyr
again. You notice a water fall streaming down the side, and
entering some under-ground network of streams, you suppose. Your
host comes back with a mug of Klah and you drink it,
thanking her.She smiles and sips her own. "These firelizards
are mainly mine. The egg is a gift for my friend Selene. Demmy.
My gold is Yarna and the bronze Rilie, and I've also an egg from
Evala Weyr. My wher is Riang," she says. Outside you see a
flash of green, and another of blue. You nod to yourself. The
Weyrlings are practicing flying. "Thank you," you say
yet again, "But I must be going now." Yasmina nods as
you call out for Perimenth to take you back.
