Showbunny?: From a friend | Comments: My Greatgrandfather started raising the dutch 57 years ago. He bought a sire and Buck for$1.75 each in 1942. That was alot back then. He purchest them from a breeder in England that was just getting started himself. When he moved to America two years late he brought his rabbits also. My Grandfather raised them, My father raised them and know I raise them. My operation has about 1000 rabbits and a 10 person full time work force. We show, sell, breed, and alot more with these rabbits. We still have some gre t, great, great, great, great, time about 5, ansesters of my greatgrandfathers first two. |

We also have one Lop though I'm not entirely sure of his exact breed. He's white with black markings around his eyes and down hi back, he also has black ears. He is our oldest daughters pet. Our other daughter and our son also have pet rabbits which I believe are of the Satin breed - a Siamese and a Chincilla. However, I'm not 100% positive of their breeding. We are raising the rabbits for meat production, but our two youngest children have demonstrated their rabbits in their local 4-H as pet care during the Roundup program. We have sold some of our rabbbits for pets. If anyone could send us information on any and all types of rabbits or where w could look for info we would appreciate the help. |
