A classic. A little dated perhaps but the music is still fun and the atmosphere is soothing.

free association

. . . The thunderstorm portion always scared me when I was younger. Of course, I was also a little curious and tried to figure out how they got the rain into the windows. My favorite part, though, was at the end of the show when everything in the theater was either talking or moving. In a way, it was actually kind of creepy. . .
. . . The Tiki Room is a great place to go and relax on a hot Anaheim day. The air conditioning, the darkness, and the soothing music make the experience tranquil. . .
. . . Make sure you stop by the Tiki Juice Bar near the ride's entrance and have a pineapple spear for a true "island" experience. . .
. . . The Enchanted Tiki Room happily underwent a much-needed renovation for the 50th Anniversary of Disneyland. Everything in the queue area is improved. It feels much more open and fresh. Also, everyone raves about how the birds and other figures don't "click" anymore. . .

pointless trivia

  • This was the first attraction to feature the technology of "Audio-Animatronics."
  • Originally, Walt thought of putting a Chinese restaurant in Adventureland where a mechanical man would entertain the diners. This evolved into a restaurant where birds performed a dinner show, and finally into The Enchanted Tiki Room. (Disneyland, Dreams, Traditions, and Transitions) - search for it on amazon.com
  • Two hundred and twenty five animated figures including birds, flowers, and wood statues perform in the show. (Ibid)
  • The attraction's music was composed by the prolific Disney duo of Robert and Richard Sherman who also wrote such classics as "It's a Small World" and the score for Mary Poppins.\
  • The Tiki Room was renovated from August 2004 to May 2005. The figures inside were updated and the queue area, entrance sign, and juice bar were extensively renovated.
