Really better suited for EPCOT. It's too commercial for Disneyland.

free association

. . . Innoventions is not a bad place to go to play a few video games and hang out for a while but I don't think it really belongs in Disneyland. It's much better suited to EPCOT Center where it originated. The attraction is too commercially-focused. The exhibits upstairs are just blatant plugs for their sponsoring companies and are done with very little imagination. Do you really want to go to Disneyland to have your Body Mass Index taken? It's said that Walt Disney only reluctantly allowed corporate exhibits into Tomorrowland when he ran out of money in 1955. Eventually, he got rid of all of them. . .
. . . It's also somewhat of an awkward experience if you want to just go inside to see the exhibits or try out the computer games because it feels rude to bypass the cast member giving the demonstration. Sometimes, though, you just don't want to stand through it. . .

pointless trivia

  • The "carousel theater" that now contains Innoventions has also been the home of two other Disneyland attractions. The theater was built for The Carousel of Progress, which moved there from the 1964 New York World's Fair in 1967. The show ran until 1973 when it moved to the Magic Kingdom in Florida. America Sings took its place, opening in 1974. It ran in Tomorrowland for 14 years. (Disney A to Z)
  • After America Sings closed in 1988, the building sat vacant for over 10 years. The sign in front depicted Mickey as the Sorcerer's Apprentice and said that a new attraction was being Imagineered. During this time it was used as offices for Disneyland management.
  • The five main technology sections of Innoventions are Sports/Recreation, Home, Entertainment, Workplace, and Transportation. (Disneyland - Memories of a Lifetime) - search for it on amazon.com
  • "There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow," the theme song for Carousel of Progress was updated and is now used as Innoventions' theme song. (Ibid)
