stairs to the conduit court

This is a photo of the spiral stairway leading back down to the conduit court. The stairs were built one way so that defenders had better offensive clearance, so all the soldiers had to be right handed so they could attack better. The stairs would also have built into them a trip step. A trip step was built higher than all the rest so that attackers running over the step would trip over and then by killed by the defenders of the castle.
