Meet Bubba, the mascot from Buda, TX!

Greetings from Mrs. Knezek Kindergarten
Clowns and their Mexican Free-tailed bat named Bubba! There are 23
kindergartners in our classroom this year. We go to school all day. We
live in Buda, Texas. To the south of Buda there are many types of bats.
There are over 1.5 million real Mexican free-tailed bats that live under
a bridge in Austin (just 15 minutes south of our small town) each
summer. There is also a cool dressed-up bat mascot for the Austin hockey
team. We love to learn about bats. Many people think bats are scary.
Actually, bats are shy and very gentle animals. Bats are the only
mammals that can fly. Bats have large wings, small bodies, and very light
weight bones. We see bats in the evening skies in Buda. They all leave
the Congress Avenue bridge at dusk to go search for insects. During the
winter, out bats fly to Mexico, but they always come back to their home
under the bridge when it is warm enough each year! I hope you have a
great time when our Bat named Bubba visits your classroom. Bats play an
important role in nature. Isn't it fun to learn more about them?
