BAKED APPLES

Serves: 1

Ingredients:
1 large baking apple
1 tsp. butter
1 tablespoon brown sugar (use less if desired
5-6 cinnamon Red Hots candies (small red cinnamon flavored candies)

Core apple, leaving bottom intact. Fill center of apple with butter, brown sugar and red hots. Wrap securely in foil, place in coals and bake until soft; 20-30 minutes.

Variation: Fill apples with 1 tsp butter and 1 or more caramel candies.

Note: In order not to use foil while camping, apples may also be cooked in a cast iron Dutch Oven. Place apples in the Dutch Oven in a single layer, cover it and place it directly in the embers. Place more embers on top and bake for 20-30 minutes.
