Kayleigh's Wish

Hey! My name is Kayleigh and I would like to tell you a little about myself. I am 15 yrs old. My hobbies include: bicycling, cheerleading, softball, basketball, track, swimming, camping, going to concerts, inline skating, just to name a few. I love helping people and volunteer for non-profit organizations. I consider myself to be carefree, kind of like dolphins. They are one of my favorite things in this world. The song you hear playing is called Kayleigh.

So far throughout my school years I have made honor roll, had 3 years in choir, sergeant for the safety patrol (2 yrs), peer mediating, newspaper staff, and student council, cheerleading, flag corp, and this year I am an athletic trainer. Last summer I taught 4-5 year olds at safety town. I have a regular babysitting business called Sitters'R'Us and a part-time job. In my spare time I volunteer in a local nursing home. I just began modeling again and I was Little Miss Ohio American Queen in 1992. I have really great friends both in school and out.

Sounds pretty normal right? Well there is another side of me that nobody really knows except my family. I am a survivor of abuse. To look at me I am an average, ordinary girl. There is one difference between myself and some other kids that are abused. I was lucky. I told someone and the abuse stopped!

My purpose here is to beg people who abuse children to stop. It is not fun and we do not ask for it or deserve it. It makes life hard on us and we end up paying the price.

My second purpose is to tell other kids that it is o.k. to tell someone. I know it is hard but you can do it. If I can, I know others can. Someone will listen to you, trust me. I used to think that nobody would believe me. I was wrong, 'cause you know what? They did.

In The next few months I will be busy writing our local judges and politicians to help lock up these offenders and keep them there for a long time. My parents are the founders of Parents Against Child Abuse. Together, we advocate for kids and adults that can't do it for themselves. I have spoken to many groups of kids that this has happened to. Many of them have the same story---they were afraid to tell. It's normal, but nobody can help you until you help yourself and tell.

I have a better life now. My parents have helped me a great deal. The person that hurt me went to jail. He confessed and is getting the help he needs.

You can be happy too..Just believe in yourself!

If you are interested in speaking out against child abuse, we are asking that you place one of these plaques with a link back to Parents Against Child Abuse on your website. If you click on the plaque above, it will take you there. There are two plaques to pick from. Please help end this senseless crime against children.

This is my adopted angel Erika. Each adopted angel represents a child that has been neglected, abducted, or abused. There are thousands of kids that end up like me but are not so lucky. You too can adopt an angel. Just click on Erica and she will show you the way.
