Are males or female better?
There is no "better" sex but males on average tend to be more friendly and have a better chance of talking than females. But this is just in general!!! I have seen very nice friendly females also.

How big should my cage be for my budgie?
I can't stress enough that you should buy the biggest cage you can afford!!!! Budgies need lots of room to play and exercise and with a small cage they can't be budgies! As a general room of thumb always buy a cage that when your bird turns around his tail doesn't touch the bars. **tip:unless necessary don't buy cages with "guillotine" doors, they could seriously injure your bird.**

Do budgies really need toys?
YES! Budgies need to stay active and entertain themselves. If not provided with toys budgies may develop psychological problems and become obese. There are many different toys for small birds available in petstores but make sure they're safe. If you're not a big spender make your own! Besides who knows your birds likes/dislikes more than you! But once again make sure they're safe.

Should I feed my budgie seeds or pellets?
Many avian experts agree that pellets are far more nutritious for your bird but budgies are some time fussy picky eaters. I have yet to get Elliott to eat pellets but I'll keep trying! If your bird is a seed eater remember to supplement their diet with nutrious fruits and vegetables! Ask your avian vet about introducing pellets to your bird. **tip: remember avocado, chocolate, alcohol, highly salty and sugary foods are POISONOUS to your bird**

What's a budgie's lifespan?
From what I've heard if a budgie is properly taken care of the average lifespan is 8-10 years. A budgie is considered an oldtimer in their teens.

How can I tell how old a budgie is?
A young budgie( a more tamable budgie) has stripes on the top of his head that stretch all the way toward it's cere. These dissapear after the first molt which signals an older bird.
