Community Service
"I promise that I will do my best:
To love my God,
To serve the Queen and my country,
To help other people
and
To keep the Guide Law."
One of the ways in which Paull Guides try to keep the Promise they made at their investiture is by being of help to the community in which they live.

Amongst the many projects Paull Guides have carried out to help others they have, either as individuals, in patrols or as a whole unit:
  • cleared litter from paths and public places in and around Paull
  • dug out overgrown footpaths and way-marked a "nature and heritage trail"
  • slept in cardboard boxes to draw attention to the plight of the homeless, and made a collection of tinned food for the night shelter in Hull
  • cleared a disused paddock and created a wonderful "Sensory Garden" at the residential home for the elderly
  • staged a 24 hour fast to raise funds and public awareness for the Freedom Campaign, whose aim is to stamp out child slavery and bonded labour
  • raised funds in all sorts of ways for many different charities
  • regularly visited the residential home, from informal board games evenings to our annual Christmas carol singing with the residents
At present (April - July 1999) we are actively supporting the Freedom Campaign, the Asthma Awareness Campaign, the Jack Taylor Trust Fund and also support the education of a teenage girl in Albania.
