HALLOWE'EN SAFETY TIPS
Police around the country give out these safety tips every year.
And yet, every year there are mishaps surrounding hallowe'en that
mar the joy of the participants.  Let's make this year the exception!

Trick-or-treaters

  • Instead of masks, wear face makeup.
  • Wear Comfortable, safe shoes.
  • Add Reflectorized strips to your costume to make you more visible to others.
  • Do not wear costumes that are floor length, cumbersome, or block your vision.
  • Make sure your costume is not flammable.
  • Set a time limit for children to Trick-or-treat
  • Designate a route to take, and make sure that your parents know what it is.
  • An adult should go with young children.

While Trick-or-treating remember

  • Never Trick-or-treat alone, always go in a group, of two or more.
  • Only visit houses where the lights are on.
  • Carry a flashlight and use it so that drivers can see you, and you can see hazards in the street or in front of you.
  • Walk on sidewalks and drivesways.
  • Cross only at street corners, never between parked cars, and never diagonally across a intersection.
  • Look all directions before crossing the street, and obey all traffic signals. Walk, don't run across the street. Use sidewalks, not the street for walking.
  • Be very cautious of strangers.
  • Do not accept rides from strangers.
  • Do not take short cuts through backyards, alleys, or parks.
  • Do not go inside anyone's house. Remain on the porch at all times.
  • Be polite and say thank you for your treats.
  • Don't play near lit jack-0-lanterns.
  • Do not eat any of the treats until your parents have inspected them.
  • Discard any homemade or unwrapped treats.
  • Call 9--1-1 if you suspect any tainted candy.

Adults

  • Welcome trick-or-treaters with your porch lights and any exterior lights on.
  • Patrol your street occasionally to discourage speeding cars, acts of mischief and crimes against children.
  • Call 9-1-1 to report any suspicious or criminal activity. Or call your police department immediately.
  • Do not give homemade or unwrapped treats to children.
  • Do not invite children into your home.
  • If driving, exercise extreme caution. Be on the alert for excited children whose vision may be obscured by masks, darting out into traffic.
  • BE SURE AND CHECK YOUR CHILDRENS TREATS!
Have a Happy and Safe Hallowe'en
and please
sign the guestbook before you leave!  Thanks!
