Her Name is Blue, Professor Blue
by Dianna
--
Blue and Steve and all the gang are teaching our kids thinking
skills, reasoning, deduction, counting, science etc. in very
creative and attention grabbing ways. Besides the basic stuff my
son is learning, saying and understanding words that quite
frankly I was surprised to hear him say like paw, mailbox, smart
(my favorite) and owl hoo, hoo.
But beyond the academic and mental exercises the show is good for
our kids in other ways too, in little mom and dad ways that I
think parents appreciate. For instance look at the way Steve is
dressed. Have you noticed the neat appearance, cleanliness, and
combed hair? Listen to all the characters on the show, no one
makes fun of anyone, everyone speaks politely and says please and
thank you (although only Steve can understand Blue). Everyone
is enthusiastic, willing to help and everyone is given a chance,
including our kids.
We as parents, are our kid's definition of "big people" and we
give them love and attention and teach them values and honesty.
But think about the other "big people" that your kids encounter
at the mall or grocery store. How do the adults speak to them?
"Oh you are so cute, how many are you?" "You're a big helper
aren't you?" Although they mean well that brings me to another
reason I think that Blues Clues is good for our kids. The "big
person", Steve, doesn't talk at our kids, he talks to and with
our kids. He encourages them to think and helps show them how to
reason. When all is said and done, he has helped our kids feel
as though they have accomplished something, and they have.
So take the time to stop, look and listen to our favorite show.
I did when I realized how intently my son was taking this show
in. It's nice to know that we can turn on the television and
encourage the influence this program is having on our kids.

favorite part of the show. Is it a certain character, the songs,
the way Steve talks to you, or maybe the snail. Or it could be
another part of the show. Go to
http://www.oocities.org/~willie-dyllan/blue/survey.html to fill
out the survey and let us know.
If you have a suggestion, for a survey, please let us know, this

Blue's Birthday Party
*********************
Blue's Clues Birthday Party is set for this month, and when we
went to the store last week, we found "Blue's Clues Berry",
Berry Flavored Applesauce, from Mott's. They are so cool, and
boy were we excited, Willie told me they were 'his' and no one
else is to eat them. :-) And they have a receipe for "Blue's
Clues Birthday Cake", using the applesauce in the cake.
And when you go to buy it, make sure to get two packages, since
you need two proof of purchases to order the "Blue's Clues
Birthday Blue Toy" mail-in offer. It is $2.99 plus 2 proof of
purchases. It is a soft toy, approximately 5" tall. She looks
so cute, with her birthday hat on.
Nickelodeon's Press release said:
In celebration of the Blue's Clues birthday special,
Mott's Inc. has developed a one-time-only special
six-pack of naturally-flavored "Blue's Clues Berry"
blue apple sauce. More than one million packs, which
feature the show's animated girl puppy, "Blue," and
special blue graphics, will hit grocery shelves
nationwide in May.
The "Blue's Birthday" episode employs the customary Nick Jr.
"play-to-learn" strategy. Viewers will get to help Steve, the
live action host, make some last minute preparations for the
party and help him pick out the perfect gift for Blue. In between
answering the door for the many party guests, viewers will play
games including a "shake & feel" game, in which everyone must
guess what the presents are, and of course, "Blue's Clues," in
which viewers will figure out what Blue wants for her birthday.
Episode 209: Blue's Birthday!!! (Premieres June 15th @ 9:30am)
A Very Special Episode! Everyones invited to Blues big event! We
play Blues Clues to figure out what present Blue wants for her
birthday. We help Steve put the finishing touches on the party
decorations: putting sprinkles on the cupcakes, arranging
balloons and streamers, and setting the table. We take a special
visit to the present store to pick out a present for Blue. As the
guests arrive, all of Blues friends gather around for present
time in the backyard, where we unwrap a present and see whats
inside. And Mailbox delivers Blue some special celebrity mail.
June will be Nickelodeon's Birthday Month. Emily of Little Bear
will be celebrating a Birthday, and on Gullah Gullah Island,
Shainas will have a Birthday Party.
"Happy Birthday Blue!!!!!"
So in honor of "Blue's" Birthday, we would love to wish all those
Blue's Clues Fan's that have a birthday in the month of June, a
very "Happy Birthday". :-)
