Cretaceous Period

There were Hugh carnivores (meat eaters) like Tyrannosaurus and Giganotosaurus appeared. So did the Triceratops and many others. There was a tremondous diversity in dinosaur species. Theropods, Sauropods and duck-billed varieties populated this era.

During the Cretaceous period, there were severe climate changes, lowered sea levels, & high volcanic activity. During this period Flowers made their appearance, and the continents separated into several more. This period ended with the extinction of the dinosaurs.

Dinosaurs of the Cretaceous Period

Theropods
Theropods were fast, two-legged carnivores with short arms.
  • Sharp, slicing teeth & well-developed jaw muscles
  • Carnivorous diet (animal eaters)
  • Bipedal walk - (walk on two legs)
  • Speed & Agility
  • Hollow bons (like birds)
  • Strong legs with bird-like, three-toed, clawed feet

Sauropods These were the large hebivourous Dinosaurs. They were to include the largest dinosaurs known. Some were well over 100 feet long.
