We are going to learn about the materials we use to build homes.

Task One

As part of our study we are going to listen to the story of "The Three Little Pigs."

 

Print out a Three Little Pigs worksheet.

Now print out this worksheet and then listen to the story.

Print out and complete this Word Search about the Pigs.

To hear the story you will need to click on the link and scroll down to number 35 and you will find The Three Little Pigs.

Go here to find the plan for a brick house. Print it out and make it carefully.

 

Task Two.

To start this task go here to print out your worksheet.

Now take a look at a house being built and complete the worksheet. you may need a Mother Help or a Teacher Aide to help you with this activity.

There are some homes to think about here.

Print this Word Search and work with a friend to complete it.

Task Three.

People around the world generally use resources from the land where they live. In Canada people built log homes because there were huge forests and logs were a handy resource. There are also log homes in New Zealand.

 

Take a look at Log Homes and complete the worksheet.

Find out how you can make a Log House.

Find out how to make adobe bricks.

Task Four

Some people build their homes from stone. Print out the "Homes from Stone" worksheet.

Some people made their Homes from Snow.

Take a Look at how to Build an Igloo

Some people live in castles. Find out how to make a castle.

Task Five

Take a look at a Straw Bale House being built. Go to "Gallery" and then click "Brummett/Valois Straw Bale Studio."

Here you will learn how to make a Cob House.

Print out and do a Homes word search.
