"I Do Not Understand" Poems

The children who wrote these poems were aged from 5 years to 7 years.

They were given a model of a "I do not understand" poem.

There was extensive discussion. Word lists were built up for the children to draw from. Everything the children wrote was accepted. Some children dictated, as their ideas were far and above their written ability.

Why bats use their sharp jaws for eating moon shaped bananas,
Hunormous clouds of bats fly at dark,
Big, big, brown wings.
