Police Rescue

Auckland

When I went on camp in Auckland we went and saw the Westpac helicopter. We also saw the police helicopter. We went on a bus to Mechanics Bay. We met a police officer. He showed us to the helicopters. He let us in to the compound. When he showed us to the police helicopter he actually told us some information about them.He told us the helmets were used because of the noise and the earphones so they can talk to the policemen below.

Uses of Helicopters

Helicopters are used for lots of things like having quick rides for fun. Some other helicopters are used for carrying logs, especially when trucks can't get there.

Helicopters take people to hospital.

Helicopters take people for ski rides.

Helicopters can carry five people.

Helicopter Safety

Do not approach or leave a helicopter when

the engine and rotors are running down or starting up.

If you are blinded by swirling dust or grit,

Stop,

Crouch lower or sit down.

NEVER approach or leave uphill.

ALWAYS approach or leave from the downhill side.

June 24th 1998

On Saturday night four men broke into a house in Tairua. The neighbour rang the police. The police searched the house. A helicopter pilot saw the fugitives on the beach. The helicopter ran out of gas and they lost all four fugitives.

Then the next day a fugitive got caught by police at Tairua. Then in three more days they caught all three men with the helicopters and police cars.

Helicopters are real useful to catch fugitives.

I drew this helicopter.
