Clay tiles -
Make a small flat slab of clay. With a pencil draw or press in a
fish, crab or sea bird shape. Add texture. Make two holes at the top
of the tile so it can be hung on cord to display. Dry slowly and fire
in a sawdust
kiln.
Do an observational drawing in pencil of
something from the beach. 'Sharpie' it. (Black ink pen.) Use the
photocopier to make it smaller and larger. Use dye to colour it.
Thank you Diane!
Make paper batik sea life pictures. Choose
a heavy construction paper. Chalk a large fish or crab design. Use
greasy crayons to outline and colour. Put crayon on heavily. Screw
the picture up into a tight ball to get the crinkle effect - thick
crayon cracks. Wet the paper and then brush over black ink or dye.
Sponge off excess.
On
heavy paper or light card, sponge green and blue to make a watery
background. Overlay the colours. Cut out fish, crabs, limpets etc
from coloured paper and paste on to to make a rock pool picture. Some
creatures can be made "stand out" by gluing small piece of
polystyrene or similar behind them so they stand out from the
picture.
If
you have "Kid Pix" make a slide show about the Rock Pool. Children
could work in pairs to produce a page each. Story Board ideas first.
Record the commentary. Include some fun sounds!
Make
a Rock pool picture using a draw program.
