Last week Jordan and my mother to a trip to visit my sister and her family. The past few summers, we have tried to let kids spend more time with each other. We live about 6 hours apart, so they usually spend a week at each home. Jordan can hardly wait to have this little vacation with her cousins. We drove her the two hours to my mothers on Monday and Tuesday morning, they headed for my sisters. She enjoyed the first few day, but by Thursday night, she began running a fever. My sister called to inform me and we decided to give her Tylenol and watch her carefully. The next morning, Jordan saw a doctor. He gave her a thorough check up after being told she had JDMS. He had lab test and chest xrays performed. He could find nothing to indicate an illness. After conferring with Dr. C., they decided to continue the Tylenol until a diagnosis could be determined. By Friday afternoon, her temp went to 104.07. Joe and I left work early to go to my sisters. By the time we arrived, the temp was under control, but every few hours, it returned. Saturday morning, we took her back to the doctor for more tests. After another chest xray and lab tests, we discovered she had early stages of pnuemonia. We'd been down this road last March, so we weren't surprised. He gave her 2 painful shots and prescribed an antibiotic called Ceftin. By Sunday morning, she felt much better.
Because Jordan's immune system is so weak, we knew to expect battles like this. She's also been fighting planters warts on one of her feet for quite sometime. We had them frozen a number of times, but with her immune system, they just don't wont to go away. My sister told me about "Occlusal HP". We started using it right before she went to my sisters. It seems to be working pretty good so far. We counted about 30 before we heard about the Occlusal HP. At times they were pretty painful, but she hasn't complained since we started this treatment.I hope they go away. I hope they go away soon.
Jordan has been weaker this week, but she seems to be getting better each day. I check with Dr. C about her IV treatment and he said to have her take it, even though she'd been sick. He felt the Solumedrol would help. I was leary, since the hospital nurses wouldn't give it before when she'd had a temp. But, we had her take it anyway. I guess it may have helped, she is feeling better. Apparently it didn't hurt.
She felt so much better today, we went shopping for school clothes this evening. She has a friend staying the night and I expect they won't go to sleep early.
I pray she goes into remission soon. I'm getting tired of having her take all the medications and IV treatments. We saw Dr. C on Monday before she left for my sisters. He told us then that she may be on medications indefinitely. We hated to hear that, but Jordan said, "If it keeps me well, oh well, I'll just take medications forever." She's got a great attitude about it, but we'll keep praying.

We saw Dr. L, Jordan's dermatologist, today for her plantars warts. They looked so bad that he didn't want to put her in any further pain by cutting the calluses off. Calluses form over each wart and she has about 30. The hardness of the callus causes pressure on the wart and causes pain. She says it feels like pins sticking in her. Dr. L prescribed a cream called Aldara. He wants it applied at night, Monday through Friday. He said to cover it with plastic wrap til morning. We are not to apply it over the weekend. Typical use, according to the instructions, is applied 3 times a week, every other day and left uncovered. Dr. L felt that since her immune system is so weak, she would need the extra doses. The instruction booklet also says it may take 16 weeks to heal. That probably means that we will be fighting them for months.
