Jordan's JDMS Diary

July 1999

Friday - July 2
Jordan wasn't able to go to her last day of Art class because she didnt feel well. We took her to the doctor and found out that she has an ear infection. He prescribed ear drops and an antibiotic. No swimming until Tuesday. She's not too happy about that.

My youngest brother and his family came to visit. He has 2 little boys which means Jordan had an enjoyable time.

Saturday - July 3
We went to the snowcone stand early this morning. It usually is a big day since the parade travels directly in front of the stand. The kids have a hard time running it themselves, so we help out.

We came home and eat barbeque, of course. Jordan wouldn't wait until Tuesday to swim. We bought her ear plugs and let her go. Everyone went back to the snowcone stand about 8:00 to prepare for the fireworks show. I stayed home because I sprang my ankle earlier in the day.

Sunday - July 4
We went to Sea World today. I thought I could manage it, but ended up having to get a wheel chair. The shows are so far apart, I was dragging everyone down. I told the others to go on and I'd sit and wait. A few minutes later,Joe surprised me with a wheel chair. I guess it was for the best. Everyone had a good time. My brother's boys love the movie Free Willy, and they thought the saw him in real life. hehehe Jordan bought each one their own little Free Willy.(stuffed)

Tuesday - July 6
We took the girls to Fiesta Texas.Jordan brought a friend it was so hot, they stayed in the water park most of the day. Another fun day for the girls! This vacation is killing me. I'd prefer a winter one.

Thursday - July 8
We took Jennifer, Jordan, Joey and Tammy ice skating in Austin. We also went to Malibu Grand Prix for race car driving, but unfortunately, they only made it once around the track and it started raining. Joe and I had a nice day with all of our children.

Friday - July 9
We went to Hempstead for my cousins wedding. It was very nice. They had an Elvis impersonator that was really good. After spending the night, we started back home. We did stop off at an outlet mall and let the girls do some shopping.

Wednesday - July 14
My first week back to work after our vacation, didn't quite work out.

I had surgery on Wednesday and did feel well for about two weeks. Fortunately for me, Jordan was feeling great! I felt a little better toward the end of the week and thought I would be able to make it to my nephew's wedding on Saturday July 17th. I just couldn't imagine not going, so I forced myself through the evening with pain pills. I later paid dearly. I could hardly move for a week.

Jordan and her 3 cousins stayed with my mother from Sunday to Thursday. They had a great time baking cookies, watching movies, swimming and just playing games together.

On Thursday, my mother brought the girls to my house. They continued their fun by swimming most of the time. I still didnt feel well, so Joe took them on outings. They went to Schliterbaun, Putter golf, rode a park train and went to the movies.

Jordan seemed to keep up with the girls with no problems. In fact she was having so much fun, she wanted to go home with them. We gave in and she went with the girls to Longview.

Wednesday - July 28
This was first week back to work and I had lots to catch up on. I was feel much better until I received a phone call from my sister informing me that my mother had left for Palestine. My grandmother, who had been staying with my Aunt in Palestine had been taken to the hospital. Mamie, as we called her, had been bedridden for about the last 5 years. She was very weak and ready to go to be with God. She passed away about 11:45.

Mamie had lived in Temple for the past 25 years so my mother was always near to take care of her. She was requiring much more attention in the past few months, so her children had decided they would each take care of her for 2 months at a time, giving my mother a break. She had been at my Aunts for about 4 weeks. I was her oldest grandchild and felt very close to her. We loved to talk genealogy. I could sit for hours listening to her tell stories about our family. I'll truely miss her.

July has been a tough month.
