States and Capitals
Reminder
Fifth graders often struggle with memorizing
states and capitals. Here is a little trick that may help.
Each monday write the name of 2 states and their capitals on the
board. Discuss those 2 states. Over the course of the week
students can write one state and capital next to their name and the other
next to the date on all assignments turned in during the week Choose
2 new states the next Monday. In just a short time (5 weeks)
all students should know the states and capitals inside out!!
Comin' to America
Why would someone want to come to America?
What would they find once they were here? Write a travel brochure
to lure people to our country. What things could we offer in America
that would be better than what their homeland has? Make this brochure
appealing with all the facts about America's geography as you can include.
